Water management
by Ravindra Atmaram Paralkar on Sep 17, 2018 07:46 PM

As far as Mahrashtra the management in rural areas was very poor over last 10-15 years. Leaders encouraged use of bores by putting pressure for electricity to pumps which depleted sub-soil water tables and no efforts were made to recharge it. Now over past few years efforts by government like Jalyukta Shivar is helping farmers and will also replanish water table. Celebrities like Amir Khan, Nana Patekar, Makrand Anaspure and many others have also participated. I am sure if continued and maintained these will help to go a long way.

High Time for Inter Link of Rivers

Ending the article merely with a list of Key areas makes it incomplete. It is better to look in to practical initiatives from individual citizens and the Government:

Use of water in our day to day life must be very conservative. The quota shall be in the mind set eg. 1 lt for brushing teeth, 15 lt for bath and so on

Rain Water Harvesting must be the rule in all buildings - residential, commercial, industrial, educational etc with no exceptions. It is most practical,a measure as order of the day, only human inclination and concerted efforts required.
The Govt. on its part, must accord Water Management TOP PRIORITY with complete POLITICAL WILL !! While each State must focus on Irrigation systems and linking rivers intra State, the Govt of India must implement inter link of all RIVERS at the National Level on war footing as better late than never.

Political Will should take care of Social or Legal hurdles.

No worries on fund part, most certainly ! If a Bullet Train can be run at Rs.100000 crores just for connecting two States/Business Towns,
Rivers linking Project reassuring future for the Nation must find resources easily and earliest too.

Wasting money on flood relief annually is avoided.Disputes between States will stand much reduced if not eliminated, as viable sources of water is enlarged, needs served.

Wasting water is atrocious, crime on future generation. No longer flowing of waters into Sea is affordable.

Drought and floods in different parts of Nation must end.

Wqter resources management
by Yash Sharda on Aug 19, 2018 03:36 PM

Water resources management in the countryin general is very poor and if this state of affairs continues, we are going to face major crisis in near future. I don't see any thought being given to plan to harness our vast water resources that are flowing into sea and cause floods in one or other part of the country. This problem could become more serious with the climate change. Government of India and Ministry of Water Resources should wake up and act accordingly.
