Most of the aircrafts we bought for Vikramaditya from Russia are frequently breaking down and not serviceable. All future manufacture of arms in India MUST be through private sector. Each Private sector Indian company must tie up with different foreign manufacturers (western or Russian) for technology and must COMPETE with each other for India's defense contracts. Only such a transparent process will help build up India's defence industry.

EVen though India has been purchasing most of its arms since Soviet times, they never shared any of the technologies with us even during Soviet times. Our PSUs were just assembling kits imported form USSR. AFter the breakup of USSR, the Russians started hiking the price of spares arbitrarily and India had to pay huge sums in US dollars to keep the equipments in working condition. It was this that soured the relationship between the two countries.
It is shocking that Ajai Shukla has conveniently left out the problems India had with Russia when we bought aircraft carrier Vikramaditya. Russia unilateraly increased the price of the ship half way during the refurbishment and India had to cough up an exhorbitant amount to get the ship.

If some article like this appears in Business Standard, it is safe to assume this a leftist implant with ulterior motives. Its time to connect the dots again.
Russia does have a point here and India must address this. May be technological transfer and make in India from Russia, which in given scenario Russians will be more than willing to do.
Ifl this so then Indian leadership going on a wrong Path . One should not ignor the Trusted Friend . Americans do not know even the meaning of friendship.
In front of a foreign country we all Indians including ministers are one entity. It is wrong to report ill about the defense minister. This speaks of poor responsibility in journalism. We Indians had always had friendly ties with Russia. Even in the current event we received them very cordially.
