Earn respect?
by Vijay Sahani on Sep 13, 2017 04:00 PM  | Hide replies

If Bollywood dynasts have risen due to their hard work and the respect they get from their audiences then how can we blame the political dynasts who also rise due to the respect they get from their voters.

Can anyone say that Congress ruled India for 60 years without getting the respect of Indian voters? If Bollywood dynasties are right then political dynasties are right too.

However, in my view dynasties of any kind are wrong. That is because people get an advantage when they belong to any dynasty. They get things on a platter. Whether they make the most of it or not is not the issue.

If you like dynasts who make the most of it then why blame Indira or Rajiv or Sonia who "made the most of it" (meaning got elected legitimately)?

My objection to dynastic rule is on the principle of getting a leg up which other people more talented do not get. THAT makes a big difference in who succeeds and who fails. It's unfair, inefficient and immoral.

Rajiv and Sonia I am not against. I am against Rahul..in fact in 2009 atleast I believe sonia should have taken up PM post. Some people who get lucky are lucky but then if you throw that luck also into dustbin then you are quite useless- which is Rahul

Logical Indian, it require guts and courage to take responsibilities as PM of the country. This people had chance but no guts as they always prefer back seat driving without anty responsibilities are accountabilities. They wanted to do what they want through their nominees.

By the way comparison by Rahul is also laughable because decisions are not same when we decide who acts or which film is good and who will head the country. They are apples and oranges

Not really. He is trying to say that dynasties exist in every profession in India. Why single him out? Ultimately, people will succeed if they deserve it not because they belong to a dynasty. The logic is same and the fallacies in the logic are also same, whether it is politics or movies.

Politics has much more than a profession to it. As a movie actor you might affect 1000s but as a PM or something like that you are affecting crores. So yhe quantity in question is high and decisions would be different

Hopeless logic! Bollywood is a private business where success is not shown by hired audiences. Money power and muscle powers are biggest evils of political dynasty. With zero education, lowest calibre also some one can think of becoming PM , is real shamelessness and gundagardi.

In fact, some people may say that Modi is dumb given that they guy is willing to sell his soul very cheaply.

Can Rahul Gandhi say that the Current Prime minister, President, Vice president, Chief justice of Supreme court, army Chiefs etc are representing dynasty ?
