Damage to journalism and democracy--Joke of the year
by Lalit Karan on Sep 08, 2017 10:29 AM  | Hide replies

Loss of Lankesh is loss of journalisma and even democracy is the biggest joke of the year. Loss of a separatist and pro-naxal can never be a loss to any true Bhartiya but yes to the group of anti national, pro-naxal, sapartists.

Until such evil affects oneself, all such stock things like anti-this and that can be used. But, they are not true and in fact criminal in nature.

No doubt, her murder was a dastardly & henious crime. The authorities will do well to nab & punish the culprits speedily. All aid & done, she was a tabloid journalist-mediocre at that- with extreme left leanings. Her death-however condemn-able was her murder- can not be the gretest loss to our democracy or journalism as claimed by the author. Her journal did not have such a great circulation. She was close to the powers that be and the left leaning thinkers and perhaps this is he she got a state funeral. Her links to the Naxalites including the slainSaket Rajan are well known and by any stretch of imagination it can be said that she strengthened Indian democracy. Coming to the state funeral accorded to her, I wonder whether there are any set of rules or laid-down guidelines to decide who is eligible for such honour or is it proximity to the powers that be and political expediency that matter

I agree in toto. All that I want to add that while writers including self-styled should try to couch their opinions in more decent language and opinions should not be such as would create hatred, violence and lead to riots.

Aren`t there somethings that defy decent language? Nothing happened in history by calm, philosophical, arm-chair sort of talks on any issue. It has happened when stirring, words were used.
