The Raman in the name added to Nirmala getting a edge over others. In spite of she having no support from some of the old functionaries she won the confidence of Modi which paid way for her elevation.Though in public they say their party is democratic, in truth it is cadre based and auhtoratarian even now.Modi and Amit Shah decides and since the others dont want their golden run to end, they hold their protest to their chest. This Modis influence will last for another term.

Those who oppose Mody, hates the idea of Secularism, Democracy, Nationalism, Hinduism, and above all Humanism
All 3 defense chiefs are from north India, and the DM is from the south. How they gel is to be seen. The author mentions about the impressive drafting skills of Ms Sitharaman, but in Defence ministry, your ability to grasp the intricacies of the subject/ equipment matters. Defence matters are mostly engineering and not commerce which is basically accountancy. Ms Sitharaman is in for a tough time, and I agree with Mr Apte that the 3 chiefs have to be kept together to be a successful DM.
