Agriculture
by Ashwin on Sep 02, 2017 10:21 PM

Agriculture was given top priority in Indian 5 yr plans/Policy by all Govts. However no Govt has done anything concrete to support Agriculture/farmer If any all their plans have resulted in increasing the vows of farmers, only to drive them to suicide. Agriculture is not an industry which is celebrating permanent honey moon, like Corporate Sector, with laks of Crores Non Performing Assets. Despite all these naked truths, Govt is not interested in trying any better solution. The 3 lak crores allocated for 100 Smart Cities, is only to create 100 more concrete jungles & 100 more billionaire contractors aka ministers. What our NITI Ayog & Ministers do not understand is, we need 6 laks Smart Villages which will turn existing collapsed Cities, Towns & Metros into Smart Cities. This is the kind of blind, deaf & dumb Govt we have. Most unfortunate situation and farmers will have to live (die) with such NITI Ayog Plans. As long as fruits of the Plans dont reach the common man, 5 Yr Plans or Planning Commission OR NITI Ayogs will not make any difference.

And finally,
by piri on Sep 02, 2017 10:12 PM  | Hide replies

the RBI itself exposes the Prime Minister of the country for what he really is - a modern day Mohammad bin Tughlaq who keeps leaping from knee jerk action to knee jerk action on the advice of someone or the other in his kitchen cabinet !

This he keeps doing in the fond hope that he would someday emerge among the commoners as truly a man with a 56 inch chest !

He leapt into the idea someone whispered into his ears to demonetize the nations high value currencies. And as typical of a clown (a komaaaali) who ended up in the wrong seat, he made the announcement of the demonetization a truly dramatic spectacle by loudly bellowing out outlandishly wild propositions, viz

a) that black money would be put an end to
b) that terrozrists would be starved of funds
c) that the problem of fake notes would be curtailed substantially

His stormtroopers across the country kept crowing out on TV and on other public forums that at least Rs 3 lakh crores of black money would not be returned to the banks as their holders will prefer to destroy them rather than declare them and get caught, thus reducing the liability of the RBI and the country by that amount !

A few weeks into the demonetization, when reports about the small scale sector, the unorganized sector and the farm sector suffering badly began to come in a cascade, the komaaaali bellowed out in his typical high pitched braying voice that all he needed are 50 days of patience by the people to put an end to black money !

For good measure, the komaaaaali threw out the assurance that petrol and diesel prices would drop to below Rs. 50 per litre each ! (the komaaaaali perhaps assumed that the majority of the commoners would be unaware that fuel prices are linked to crude oil prices and that no questions would be asked why fuel prices had to remain so high despite the crude oil price falling from 128 USD to 48 USD per barrel in the last 3 years) !ÃÂ

Now, about the RBIs figures declared yesterday :

1. Total amount in 500 rupee and 1000 rupee notes in circulation as on November 8th, 2016 : Rs. 15.44 lakh crores

2. Amount deposited back in the banks in old 500 and 1000 rupee currencies : Rs. 15.28 lakh crores !

3. Therfore, the total amount that was not returned : Rs. 16000 crores !

(Rs. 3 lakh crores promised to be unearthed in black money and only Rs. 16000 crores really unearthed) !

4. Amount spent by the RBI in printing new notes and other expenses associated with their launch : Rs. 21000 crores !

(i.e., More money was spent for the demonetization than apparently obtained as black money)

5. And..........all the money has not returned yet to the RBI !!

The deposits in the co-operative banks and the money in Nepal are yet to be counted !!

This puts the komaaaalis govt up against the peculiar prospect of the money ultimately being returned exceeding the money actually printed by the RBI !! In effect, black money and fake money may have come back to a degree to the banks !

Farmers rightful demands
by sunil rathi on Sep 02, 2017 06:06 PM  | Hide replies

I fully agree that PM has made such genuine promises to farmers and they really need policies so that agriculture should be profitable.
Farmers deprived of this rightful demand and forced to live in poverty.
While some measures such as insurance implemented but still needs to enlighten them by gramsevaks/BDO but there need a price correction mechanisim as we have for our government employees/MP/MLA or other manufacturing companies.
Otherwise farmers will always lead a poverty life and no educated person will dare to take farming as career.
Hope PM will look into it.
PM is working day n night and we should appreciate and feel proud,

PM is working day n night for Corporate, not for farmers, thatz why he take the step of demonetization, so that all middle class n lower middle class money saved will come to system and now bank is giving less than 6% interest to public, before demoni it was 9%. now bank is giving free loan to corporate house.

Then there will be a demand for Loan Waiver
by dwaraka nath on Sep 02, 2017 01:22 PM  | Hide replies

All and sundry agri-leaders and political parties keep on demanding waiver of agri-loans, as a solution to the Agriculture sector. BUT that is not the solution at all. If at all Loan Waiver is done, it should be done only for very small marginal farmer and not to all the agriculturists. It is everybody's experience that majority of the Loan Waivers are done for the people who are well-to-do and who own big chunk of assets and earn fabulous income. Rural rich are the real people enjoying the benefits of all the developments that have taken place, including the LOAN WAIVERS. IF STRICT measures are taken, loan waiver will not be a big burden. Implementation should be very strict and based on set criteria to eliminate rich/creamy section of agriculture.

there are many loan taken in industries and not paying even interest and hence reserve bank of india issue list of bad loan and going to issue another list shortly. all these amount will come crores of rupees like black money in foreign country. as per information from PM that Rs.15.00 lack will get each family if all these black money to indian but not come and no sign to come but of course bad loan from industrialists will definitely not come because they have all paid election funds. this is difference.

Just see who gave those loans and when. The banks have been left in such a bad shape that new loans are not so easy. I have personally faced it for an education loan for my daughter...

Indians in general have not realized the kind of mess our country was in when NDA took over. There have been many benefits given to the farmer and people in general. If you look closely the NPAs are a vestige of misdeeds in the 2005-2013 period
