There must be control on deep bore wells & water off take, all bores must have system of water harvesting, Zero budget farming should be practice which required very less water, to save today and secure tomorrow. Every one need to be sensitive for water harvesting and conservation.

Some how a bit of googling says that it has rained to some extent in the Thoothukudi district , and thambarabarani river is flowing bcox of good rains in western ghats ..

But if this water is not stored well , the district will end up again next year drought .. Secondly many industries are sucking the water from this rivers like anything .. People who are supporting SaveRivers should also think about stopping drinking Coke , reduce buying more cell phones, etc ..And lastly start a campaign for Single or Max second child policy ..

And by the MGNREGA is one of the most misused schemes in India .. It is not just with the Delhi people , it is also with the local panchayats/counselors who are eating the MGNREGA money ..I can see that in my home town where people become counselors to become rich.Wish people start questioning them

Dear Sir, I do not know whether you are aware: TN is the lowest population growth state next to Kerala, while Kerala leads. Erstwhile Tirunelveli dist used to be called as Oxford of India. Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli dist have more %age of literates equivalent to Kerala. I think during late 50s three children per family was introduced and in 60s it was publicised as WE TWO OURS' TWO. During 70s another slogan WE TWO FOR OURS' ONE.

Water management
by Vivek Mittal on Oct 05, 2017 12:55 PM

Was saddened reading the article. The problem liesprimarily in over population, excess consumption of natural resources, cutting of forests. This process of lakes and rivers going dry is Pan India. It will be difficult to reverse the change but people will have to work towards it. The govt needs to reclaim water from the sea by filtering it to desalianate it and feeding this water to the ponds .Needs to ne done along the whole Indian peninsula. The technology is available with European countries. This will also help bring down sea levels over a long period of time and yes water needs to be rationed all across India.

This is the real India
by Jayaprakash Balan on Oct 05, 2017 12:34 PM

What a sad situation. This is the real 80% India that every Indian should see and understand and all those we see in TV or news or advertisement is just a miniscule portion and we take pride in the fact that India is beautiful and life is good. Ofcourse India is the most beautiful country in the world geographically or from what nature had given us, but see what has happened to those beauty in the past 50 years. This is not development and its just erosion. Even if the so called psudo development oriented people argue that this is just some part of India and cannot represent India's status today, do we or any Indian has the right to ignore this reality. Unless and until this reality is addressed and made beautiful, what is the use of self boasting that India is progressing and better today than earlier days. Erosion of ground water is a harsh reality and our entire agriculture is dependent on that even if rains or not. Govt. utmost priority than other things should be concentration, research and focus how to save ground water and how to improve on water storage. Why is the black money earned not being extensively used for such purpose. We are debating and protesting against not so serious issues, but would coolly avoid thinking or discussion on this subject.

Dear Pooja, I don't know how old you are. But howsoever old you are doesn't matter. The only thing that matters here is that you don't have the maturity of looking into the future & thinking of the future with a vision in mind.

Do you know anything about the Bullet Train project? No certainly not. You are following everyone blankly without understanding how its being implemented.

Who is spending for the Bullet Train? We are not & have not allocated anything for the Bullet Train. So, the matter of using that money does not arise at all.

Japan is investing 85% of the cost themselves & on that they are charging 0.1% interest. Do you no that? On top of that the Loan repayment will start only after 15 Years. And after 15 years, its to be given back in 35 Years more time. Did you know this? No, of course not. Had you known all this then you wouldn't have immaturely stated all that you think.

Plus, this is the first stretch of Bullet Train. After that it will be extended to Delhi to Kolkata to Chennai to Hyderabad to Bengaluru & then to Mumbai again. It will form an entire circle.

Its going to employ thousands of engineers. Once its functioning starts, its advantages are immense. Business-wise it will do wonders.

Its going to be little cheaper than flight. And the trains will leave every few minutes which is fantastic. If you miss one train, you can always take the subsequent trains. There wont be any delays whether its rain or heat or thundershowers. Its ver

Dear Sachdeva, you should think & speak. Reasoning power of man has to be made use of.

Does India have anything big made by themselves? No! Still we are dependent on the old structures built for the dead like Taj Mahal & Qutub Minar.

We need to create our own & not only that, we need to show to the world that we can make the best.

Now, coming to the financial aspect of the structures like the Sardar Patel Statue & Shivaji Statue. They are being built by the states which are very well developed.

Gujarat & Maharashtra are not like Tamil Nadu. Both these states especially Gujarat, has well detailed infrastructure for all their needs. May it be water or electricity.

They can afford these statues with Centres assistance. Beyond that, did you ever think that after these statues are built, they will keep on generating revenues in lakhs every day.

These 2 structures are going to be the worlds biggest structures. People around the world are going to identify India with these 2 structures. Apart from continuous income generation, its going to give India a big & good name.

Modi toiled for nearly 15 Years to achieve what he achieved in Gujarat now. He can & will do whatever he wants.

What has happened in Tamil Nadu is not his making. Only Tamil Nadu people are to be blamed for electing the 2 Dravidian parties again & again who looted Tamil Nadu all these years.

And now U blame the PM whom U all never gave a chance. How is Modi to be blamed. Peop
