Our own people are also equally responsible. Dont you feel so? We also have a disrict and state administration. Why no blame on them? How can we blame Modi for sanitation problems in our ward? I tried to get some citizens together after Vardah storm in Chennai last year. Just 6 volunteers turned up. Our own area cleaning up is our own responsibility. I hope you are getting my point. In my company also I tried to get volunteers for tree planting. Just few Trainees and 2 from Admin department turned up while we have more than hundred employees. The site selected was also near the office and we also had arranged transport and even some snacks. We only asked 2 hours of their time on a Saturday after work which ends at 2:00 pm. But I continue to help people around me in Chennai.

Amazing job as an individual.Elected politicians in TN are one of the worst in the world. They dont care for the ward, locality, constituency etc but continue to enjoy the privileges of constitutional authority. I agree we conveniently blame others for our inefficiency. SAD.

How does our PM Modi ji come into the picture? From the time of Independence in 1947 Tamil Nadu has been ruled by the Dravidian parties. What hav they done all these decades? Ask them first.
If Modiji is give chance, he will definitely transform Tamil Nadu like he did in Gujarat in a single decade. He will do what these Dravidian parties & Congress couldn't do in 7 decades.
To be very fair, people always knowingly hav been voting to power these Dravidian parties again & again. So, naturally the onus lies with the voting public. The public is to be blamed for all this mess. They used to vote for all corrupt politicians by taking bribes & things. And these politicians never ever did a meaningful work but for swindling & looting money.

KUMAR: TN was ruled by Congress till 1967. Late Mr Kamaraj ruled about 10 years - cannot be compared with any of the CMs of all states till date. Instrumental for construction of Dams, Schools & Colleges, Hospitals, various Industries. 100% uncorrupt CM - A bachelor, did not own a house. Lived in a rental building about 1000 sq ft while he was CM. At the time of his death on 2.10.1975, his properties are Rs.374 and 4 sets of dhoti & shirts.
Despite present days misrule still the state ranks within 5, in any parameters. Still Gujarat is classified as developing state while TN as developed state. You can find Gujarat in most parameters above 5 only. (Education, Health, Industry, GDP, Infant mortality, Life expectancy women health & literacy like that.
Reg CORRUPTION: As per Centre for media Survey - Times of India Most corrupt states are in the order - Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, TN, Maharashtra, Punjab.....and the least corrupt states are Himachal Pradesh, Kerala and Chattisgar.
It is true that dravidian parties rule since 1967 gradually spoils and now it is peak

this has not happened suddenly in 3 or 4yrs to question Modiji.
This has been going on for the last 10 or 20 yrs. Can we blame the dravidian parties of the time along with the congress party who was ruling at that time??

The whole state is brain washed so well by the two looter parties of the state. The people of the state are happy getting freebies and cash during elections and since a long time no development has taken place

I donot think that any body blamed Delhi for any deficit of rain in this dist. They blame Centre for Cauvery water sharing despite Supreme Court Orders about two years ago to form Cauvery Water Management Board which Centre is yet to form. The reason being politicized in TN, BJP's chances are remote in TN while in Karnatak at least they may have.
Mr Chandrasekhar: cannot be said as brain washed. People are forced to choose who are lesser corrupt, as National Parties lost its base here. It is certain the growth or development is so bad. However it grows better than many states because of the large number of individuals' hard work.

Congress or AAP will still be better bets as BJP has been demonised by both DMK,AIADMK etc.. Hope AAP comes to power and changes the political culture

The reason for all these woes of tamaraparani getting drying up, abundant growth of water hyacith, not cleaning the river beds all due to 1967 results.
The late Chief Minister of Tamilnadu sri.M. BAKTHAVATSALAM,gave the reply regarding the election rsults as: "TAMILNAATTIL VISHA KIRUMIGAL PARAVI VITTANA".
which means venomous insects have spread allover tamilnadu referring to the Dravidian party's success.
Present Dist Collector utilising the services of youths and college students (volunteered) about 15000 at a time cleared the bushes, plastic wastes and other wastes right from origin to Tirunelveli at least 5 or 6 occasions. Earlier for the past 3 or 4 years one Prof from St. Xaviers College took initiative in this regard and it has been extended in a big way this year. Thanks to the dist collector.
I think issue with MNREGA not knowing about your village Panikkanadarkudieruppu is, its too long a name to remember. by the time, one finishes pronouncing it completely by overcoming hurdles of different letters on the way, one tends to forget first few letters and then whole name is forgotten :-).
The article brings out the reality happening around India. Many rivers have died in the last 60-70 years on account of indiscriminate exploitation in the name of economic development. While, developed nations protected their natural resources, under developed nations like India killed their own resources. Many rivers, streams, lakes and ponds have vanished and we are left with dry bore-wells. Haphazard planning, incompetent local bodies, highly maligned politics, weak citizens voice has taken away the life-line of human civilization - WATER
