Sorry to hear that a JCO after having rendered 30 glorious years of service has been asked to prove his identity. However, there is no need for blowing the matter out of proportion. The State of Assam is facing uncontrollable influx of Bangladeshis. This could be one of their routine check. The JCO, I think, should quietly produce the requisite documents and finish off the matter rather than going to social media. By going to social media he has partially expressed his disloyalty to the the Govt. Indian Soldiers are known for its honesty and loyalty to the nation. I for one disapprove his going to social media notwithstanding my sympathy for the JCO.

Probably there was an other person in the same name. Considering the huge illegal influx disturbing the way of life in the North East, it is better to cross check.
I agree that Rediff and NDTV are making a mountain out of a molehill.
Quite happy that this kind of good verifications are indeed happening. Should have happened long before. But did not happen due to vote bank politics

Congress was there in the power. Congress has done lot of non sense to get votes from illegal Bangladeshi. It's justify to ask and verify each and every individual's identity. And it's not a insult, NDTV is belongs to Congress financiers, always does the negative propaganda of BJP and Mr. Modi. If Mr. Haque is a true indian, should cooperate with the govt. and support the govt. rather NDTV

Verification
by on Oct 01, 2017 03:49 PM

When joining government service, particularly armed forces, verification/vetting of antecedents is mandatory and must have been carried out in this case as well without which he would not have been confirmed in service. That he can show relevant documents and settle the issue is bullshit.
