Armed forces have been reduced to beggers...quality of equipment.. moral down.. They are used as fodder for cheap propaganda to achieve petty political goals.. This political leadership should realize.. Army is a cutting sword.. it should be kept in robust cutting state as its not an object for display
If for all reasons we need Army, Than Why at all do we have Executive ? Why do we have Dept alike PWD, Railway , Transport Ministry , Municipal corporations etc If for all Purposes we are going to Use Army ? Everybody knows that the ARMY is Efficient Same way We know that other govt Dept's are inefficient & Corrupt Than Why Not The ARMY Takeover the Function of the Govt Because it seems They can do the things in a Better Way ??
Army is for defense, especially against external forces. True.
W.R.T this bridge building: In any country it is military or defense that is supposed to have the best technology. This eventually percolates to normal civilian applications. So it is good if army has a superior technology and it transfers the technology to civilian use. But, such acts MUST BE PROPERLY CALIBRATED, not at the whims and fancies of ruling party or its ministers.

It is not superior technology.Bridges constructed by army are for combat operations and these bridges can be launched in 5 to 6 hours and they are trained to launch these a night ,at the most under moonlight.These can withstand heavy vehicles depending on the classification including tanks.These are not for long use.The work in Mumbai could easily have been done by railway engineers and they should have objected to the work being executed by army engineers.
Let Army Bridge the GAPS between People not for the People to use it for their passage. Hon.Defence Minister,you have been a TEACHER, you in your career, I am sure, have never committed to any one without analysing the repurcussions.You have also never thought your students to be TOYS to be used to please your Bosses & Colleagues.How come without taking the COAS into your confidence you gave your decesion of deputing the Army to build the RAILWAY BRIDGES .Even during NATIONAL EMERGENCY the COAS is consulted . You have degraded the Railway Staff telling them that they are no good.If so why give them BONUS every year.Hon.Railway Minister too should have objected to it, as it is a direct insult to him. Please, Hon.Defence Minister,do not use Soldiers as CASUAL/BONDED LABOURS. It is not only the soldiers are used,the equipment meant for the War undergoes tremendous wear & Tear. Please treat the Soldier who has given his TODAY FOR YOUR TOMORROW with Dignity.
At the time of accident and deaths of several persons,it was said that passengers were at fault and created stamped and as result deaths happen. However enquiry was ordered and results are not known. One day some central ministers and state ministers visit the accident site and declare that 3 bridges would be built by Army without any details and reasons of such a decision. That means all inefficiencies of some high ranks have to set right by some one and deploy its own resources to save inefficient and further enable it to divert its own resources some where else to some unproductive assignments and make false publicity.
The degradation and humiliation that the Armed Forces is being subjected to is the direct result of the lack of MORAL FIBRE in our men who rise to the highest post and then behave like prostitutes willing to self their bodies and soul for two penny gains! Tangential Man!

In Defence orders are obeyed and then objections raised subsequently.The present dispensation seems to be unaware of the ethos of the armed forces.In 1970 The Chief was asked to start the campaign for liberation of Bangla Desh .Gen(later Fd Marshal) Manekshaw told the Pm he needs more time.It was given and the rest is history.campaigns cannot be launched at the whims and fancies of politicians.The weather,terrain conditions even the phases of the moon etc are to be taken into consideration.Indira,with all her short comings,was sensible and was convinced that the Chief was right.
