There are three core situations in which the army comes into play: One, when there is an emergency on the national border. Two, in case of natural or man-made calamities or disasters. Three, when national image is at stake.
None of these three apply here.

ref oath taken by all ranks and three situation stated in the above text . unless and until detailed discription of these points understood by govt they will use at their will irrespective of type of govt .
Army can be used many ways for country but in which way getting used is not fair by any mean for civil work when other Institution can do same work that mean there is no policy for army to do any work. What General is saying is right Army can be used in their area strengthening the Army in many ways. Government should not use Army for making Railway Bridge is not Army Job.

The decision to use the army is much more than meets the eye. It has been taken to cut the red tape & corruption which essentially comes to all Railway babudom when such tenders are floated. its precisely to cut that corruption the 3 bridges have been assigned to the army. I agree it may not be the best way to do it, but you need to understand the larger picture on why such a abrupt & out of the box has been taken.

close down the Railways and deploy armed forces then in that place to prevent corruption. Not only in railways, but in all spheres

It could have been entrusted to army in two other ways; Using Border Roads Organisation under whose expertise the task falls or as Operational Work Given to Army/ MES and executed by civil contractors to cut red tape.Deploying soldiers as labour/ tradesmen is not befitting their status. In any case, it could be considered emergency and executed by civil departments like CPWD with their inherent manpower or given as direct emergency contract work under suitable administrative authority. This is not only misuse and dilution of army manpower but also of equipment and procedures set up ti war/ emergency needs

It,s surprising ,we have thousands of Qualified engineers & labor n still Using Army for such operation,Army is to protect the country not for such labor,s job,Govt need to understand,You should not use the over power whereever you like,This is chosen by People of India,that is welcome but pls give a thought,in future it would be big question mark that recruitment for Army is for Laboring or for Defense Purpose.I am also belonging to Defense Family & I am proud on that for sure.
