imagine the logistics mess with different calibre ammunition.
when shall india learn that you cant become a big power with imported weapons. you have to develop your own capabilities and that shall not happen without demand and experience and correction of flaws.

our education system is so bad that we do not build skills to develop We can only buy and maintain at the most So, change should happen first in the education segment if we need to move Make in India
Why are defence procurements and allotments being publicised. I think such news should not be put in public domain as it can compromise the security of the country.

if Modi publishes details he is termed as publicity-hungry. if he witholds details he is termed authoritarian and dictator. what to do?
A little bit of this and a little bit of that, will end only in chaos. Best thing is to have a public private partnership for developing indigenous rifles.
Give the DRDO developed rifles and the Army specifications to three private players and ask them to come up with a diagnosis and recommendations for improving the rifles after comparing with the top rifles in the world.
Whoever comes up with the best report gets the order to innovate and produce. I am sure we will be manufacturing world class rifles in couple of years.

why not recruit some people who are specialized in the making of the rifles. guns and pistols which can suit to our forces needs in different situations rather than buying them at a higher cost. Alternatively go for different guns with diff companies around the world for different agencies like for NSG, Para commando, BSF, CISF, CRPF, RAF etc give them subsidies if needed and it can be exported to nearby friendly countries at cheaper rates and even globally if needed as cost would be cheaper when compared to the current. Get varied products for the army to protect our soldiers or armed forces. The weapons thus selected should be of high quality and caliber.
We have match our men and weapons with that of the nearby possible enemies and then decide quick Procurement and training of our front men . Hope this exercise is fine very well and as immaculately as possible .
Why not every indian fund this weapon for our soldiers like we raise money for people who cannot afford medical treatment as their own or like building Temple by making donations. This is much greater cause . can army open a pocket where people can contribute for buying balance 5.5 lacs imports rifle for our soldiers
so please sell these make in india weapons to america france england etc. and earn billions of dollars and our economy will grow strong...also these countries arms manufacturers will go broke that will also be to our advantage...

Because of latest state of art equipment purchased from Israel our army is able to kill many militants of late. Dont bring politucs here mr vaidyA. No one has blamed Bofors but we cannot ignore the corruption involved in purchasing the Bofors gun.
