the challenges

padmanabhan
that our late PrimeMinister Indira Gandhi committed
only one great blunder which lead to her downfalll.
And that is lifting of emergency even befor completion of one year. had she enforced it atleast for 2 yrs definitely India could have got some discipline in all fields and aspects.

Now there is indiscipline and immorality in the name
of freedom of speech, and what not. But there is no
taker for work and duty which is most essential for
India's super power position.

Will our citizens(the so-called elites) listen and
ponder over??

Pretty good - Politicians only speak as if Emergency period is bad, in fact people were happy then. Union leaders were forced to be in the office for working. Good for nothing politicians were harassed. Irregular Govt & PSU employees were forced to work as per the rules governing the services. Those days were corruption free certain extent.
Even after 40 years still most politicians speak bad about emergency days as black days, just to gain popularity

I fully agree with you.During emergency, trains were running in time, government servants were attending their offices before the time,no hoarding,no strikes, food items price were not raised.I still remember those golden days and dream of those days coming again.Poor countries like India need such regime.Hope again one Indira will come and save this country.

@ Gladyschellam & Balkrish : So it is okay to lose one's fundamental rights if the trains will run on time, government servants will attend offices on time, no hoarding as claimed by you etc. It is okay if people are forced to undergo compulsory sterilization, put behind bars for no rhyme or reason, if censorship is imposed etc. What a tragedy? Am sure there is a limit to being a doormat.

Mr Venkatesh:Compulsory sterlization, a political comment. Who were put behind bars? common man! Only politicians and some communal bad elements, that too erroneous were said to be harassed.

Why have a law if it is not to be followed? My FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS are more important than any thing else. Liberty to do any thing, the way I like. Let us go by the LAW OF THE JUNGLE.

Yes, there have been excesses during Emergency. But also remember the resistance provided. There was fear of law.

Without basic discipline, a nation is self-destructive. One does not become a doormat with discipline and fear of law. If you want a nation to be built, there has to be a law and the citizen has to be law abiding.
