PETA should understand
by aman on Jan 19, 2017 02:49 PM

Its a cultural game and part of the rearing process, the real reasons behind, which many here could not understand. To be fit we need to face hardships and gain strength. Farming needs cows and native bulls needs to be protected. In the name of poultry, dairy and milk revolution etc we are doing a major health hazard for humans and we will be left behind is genetically modified animals which will not be fit for anything.

Lopsided argument
by sivakumar ramachandran on Jan 19, 2017 02:40 PM  | Hide replies

If Jallikattu is animal cruelty, then thousands of zoos throughout the world are a cruelty too. Besides, millions of animals are used in chemical lab testing. Also, animals are still used in circus shows in most countries in the world (it is reduced in India due to the same blunt lobbying).
In many cases, the quality of life by these animals is better than those in wilderness.
Non-vegetarianism when practiced recklessly throughout the world is great cruelty too - is it possible / fair to ban it for this reason?
Hence, the solution will be to allow Jallikattu under some norms instead of banning it.

Good to know that PETA is trying on all these fronts.

Total banning is not realistic anywhere - systematic implementation is the correct solution.

Cruelty is there in every extreme sport
by Truth Prevails on Jan 19, 2017 02:33 PM  | Hide replies

Put restrictions on the level of cruelty if possible, but don't block it completely.

Boxing, Wrestling, Karate, Judo are all dangerous games, but there are rules. Make such rules if possible but why meddle with religious sentiments

By the logic of PETA even playing Cricket is dangerous. You are thrown a nearly metal ball directly, which could hit your face, head, chest and you just have a small wooden piece to guard yourself. Ban Cricket as it can kill the batsman.

Slaughtering helpless goats and cows is not for food only..

So you would rather that the
poor animal is killed for food rather than played with for a few hours..

WOw what logic
