Gandhi

Gandhi was a british trojan horse to keep the violent freedom movement in check. We got freedom because the British would be thrown out by the battle hardened Indian army. Google Bombay Naval mutiny of 1946 which compelled the British to give us independence. Why is this mutiny never mentioned by our text books or the congress?

You are talking about people who served the British army and upressed fellow Indian for a monthly salary. Even sepoy mutiny was for the royal families and not for the general public. If sepoy mutiny would have succeeded, the era of the monarchy of India monarchs would have returned. Certainly India would not have remained one country under such circumstances.

Gandhians won, though not Gandhi
by palanki narayana on Jan 17, 2017 04:06 PM

Though the Mahatma did not win (or care), Gandhians in later years got the prize. Marin Luther King, Bishop Tutu, Aung San Kyi are examples.

Netaji raised an army of 33000 soldiers (30000 Indian POWs in Japan and 3000 from North Africa). This amounts about two divisions and is not a small contribution. But sadly, he fought on the side of Nazis and fascists, an approach not agreed by the Indian leaders who felt that Britain should be helped in its hour of need, otherwise Germany or Japan would enslave India. If Bose had his way we would now be shouting, "Japani hatao" instead of "Angrezi hatao". We do not know if Bose died in the air crash or a Russian prison camp. Nobel prizes are not awarded posthumously.

J.C.Bose
by palanki narayana on Jan 17, 2017 03:32 PM

When 21 year old Marconi successfully sent a radio signal across the sea, 37 year old Bose was having his technical papers in botany being "docketed" (a polite way of saying "buried") by the Royal society due to unacceptably large errors in results. When Bose started working in England his mentor Lord Raleigh advised him to continue working on radio waves as Bose had already succeeded in exploding a mine by remote control using the waves. If Bose had heeded Raleigh's advice he might have beaten Marconi to the prize. Due to the controversy about Bose's contribution to the development of radio, Marconi's daughter asked an Indian scientist Bhattacharyya to investigate the matter. His findings published in IEEE, clearly state that Bose's work on radio waves was incomplete.

How dare they will be to measure such great soul with just aNobel
by EACHEMPATI CHARYULU on Jan 17, 2017 03:21 PM  | Hide replies

How any body can ever measure Mahatma Gandhi and his contributions to the world Community? Nobel is too small a robe to measure our Mahatma. Recollect what Albert Einstein had said about Gandhiji and I quote "Generations to come, it may well be, will scarce believe that such a man as this one ever in flesh and blood walked upon this Earth.”

We have to make our new generation more aware about Gandhi and his teachings. Our present young generation have a very little knowledge about Gandhiji and the output of the ShishuMandir and Vidya Mandir's have a negative image of Gandhiji in their mind. they could be made more informed through efforts of the people who truely know Gandhiji.

Gandhi should have won the Nobel Prize
by JAAGRUK INSAAN on Jan 17, 2017 02:58 PM

Mahatma Gandhi - The father of nation : should be viewed far above the NOBEL Prize & BHARAT RATNA .

His stature as a main driving force for the India's Freedom struggle - is far beyond the reach of ordinary parameters of NOBEL prize.

Hence he should have been awarded the NOBEL prize - is a well known fact.

But, when not already conferred by the organizers of Nobel prize, there should not be any feeling of shortcomings.

MAHATMA is MAHATMA - far far ahead of the purview of Nobel.

Nobel-Why
by suvro mallick on Jan 17, 2017 01:54 PM

Why Nobel to him - The person may have done some sacrifice but also responsible of so many deaths during the division of the country, responsible for supporting Nehru as PM and the effect is current political dilemma, worst economical situation, caste factor, reservation, lack of Job and so called secularism-This could not have taken place if he would have not given favor to So called Nehru and others.
