He and his clan was misfit to run such a big country and unable to handle the challenges at that time.Somebody like stature of Sardar Patel would have made the difference.

If Nehru was d_u_f_f_e_r_, your father and his friends were also the same too who did not rise a revolution against the govt in those times!! Let the dead man remain in peace and try to live in peace too. You can't do one thing good at present but like to blame the past leaders.

Do some work constructively rather then criticizing the dead man. Don't keep crying over the past. Have b_a_l_l_s_ to bring change in the present then show. Else remember, the best ideas and structures were built during the times of outsiders. The largest rail network was also by British built in India.
People in Nehru's time and Indira's time also thought they were the greatest leaders. The bankruptcy of the opposition gave rise to the so-called dynasty. If there are strong leaders and we aren't enamored with them, but instead help them with objective criticism and they take help, that's the way !
We have extremes of people prostrating in front of leaders, or outright anarchy. There is no middle ground

there was never and will never be a dearth of intellegent, educated people who were/are ready to give up their careers for public service in india. despite press and education being controlled by religious and leftist groups india survived because the sacrifices of this unsung heroes. until PVNR changed the orientation of the indian economic policy the country suffered the ravages of the nehruvian policies sincerely followed by his family members who all were given a larger then life image by the press. the social media changed this all now.with information available there is a scope to know who is what. that is certainly making a huge difference.

India got independence only when the UK was refused money under Marshall plan ! They were still hesitating and waiting for Gandhi to go.
Sardar Patel was also getting old, so Gandhi would have suggested Nehru. If Patel thought otherwise, he would have and could have raised a rebellion. Hindsight is perfect. But without a tempering influence of a secular leader, India would have descended into a communal situation like Pakistan. Guess some of the guests here want to settle it once and for all like that
The so-called border between India and China wasn't agreed between the Brits and Chinese. In those days, the Chinese too, probably thought they can grab unoccupied and uninhabited areas like the western countries did in Antartica in the recent past !

India was militarily weak.it did not have strength.no attention was paid on china border.All leaders make mistake.jawaharlal nehru was no mistake.Gandhi ji had no administrative experience.Gandhi ji was projected as mahatma by congress party.only way is that India should become malitarily strong to deter china for taking any adventure.Modi ji is right on defense spending.

It is not correct to sit on the judgement on those freedom fighters and patriots to say they did blunders. All great heros like Napolean also has last wars. Indian Heros lost series of wars against invaders but we have to respect them as they dis their best. Can we blame the present government for the beheading our soldiers recently for Pakistans devious methods.
