Tamil Nadu and its politics
by H.S.K. Saheb on Jan 01, 2018 10:11 PM

Tamil Nadu politics is the mixture of emotions, drama, pride, culture of freebies and to some extant cast equation.
To repeat the history, so called honest, pro poor. non-corrupt, unbiased, darling of the masses invited to preside over and do the political permutations and combinations meant for people's welfare. This system well suited for the leaders who swear by the name of their supremo, and a win win situation for the followers to enjoy their share of goodwill.
TN,once upon a time well known for men of great political sagacity and good administration and governance has to wait for some one from film industry to take charge of power once again and don the mantle of a messiah. It is left to the people, to do and undo the system.

RAJANIKANTH IS CERTAIN TO BECOME TOP LEADER IN TN
by subrata banerjee on Jan 01, 2018 05:19 PM

I must appreciate the sense of timing when to declare his formation of new political party. We all know very well that the people of TAMIL NADU have been experiencing huge weakness between two star political parties AIDMK AND DMK led by film actor's legacy. At present Jaylalita is no more with them and the leaders of AIADMK are engaed infighting with each other and on the other hand the DMK party Karunanidhi is there but there is also infighting between brothers to lead the party and above all their tainted leaders like A.Raja and Kanomaji (at present declared that 'presented evidences do not support their any involvement in corruption by lower court) which carry every scope by the central agancy to appeal against the order in the higher court. So, their case is also pending.
It is, therefore, observed that the people of TAMIL NADU feel sick and the south based states are much more aware against the role of BJP who has been consistently trying to find a strong foot hold here. And for this, in one hand they have been trying to help OPS EPS group to fight against T.T.V DINAKARAN but result of election was dismal for EPS OPS GROUP. Meantime an another desperate attempt came from BJP when we see that our prime minister visited the residence of Karunanidhi and sat behind him to discuss. And there was a deal where it was confirmed that the corruption cases of Raja and Kanomaji will be treated lightly. Bjp has been desperate to rope in any one of them to form their power

Winning elections is a cake walk for Rajani kanth.Canvassing and other things will be done by his fans.Becoming CM of TN is also easy for him.He has more fans than Sivaji and Vijaykanth and is more favoured by the people irrespective of the party they belong. But,his first and foremost test will be Kaveri dispute between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka ,where his fans will be diluted and hatred will start. He can not sustain neutrality or side TN .His failure in the politics starts from there. Now he is loved and appreciated by millions of people . He will lose their affection amid sad ending .Rajani should not enter politics at any cost to save his honour and affection from the people across the country.Cinematic dialogues won't help him as CM of the state. Reel life is different from real life, that he should understand.

it will take time.
by s kumar on Jan 01, 2018 04:09 PM

for MGR it look many years and also JJ had to spend years before they started getting votes. captain Vijaykanth after so many years is till struggling to get decent % of vote .. So mere entry does not guarantee votes . He will be closely followed and assesss by the people for his roadmap/actions- for many years before they decide to vote. But most know him as a good honest human and this will work to his advantage

Why Tamilians vote for Rajnikant.
by on Jan 01, 2018 11:24 AM  | Hide replies

Tamilians are star crazy. Karinanidhi is from the Filmline with his fierce film stories. MGR was a Hero, though he is a Kerala origin Nair born and bought up in Srilanka. Then Jayalalitha. Similarly you will find most of the Heros of Tamil Film, take up joining politics using their on screen popularity, when they find their stardom is on decline. This trend is visible in Andhra too.

Agree, TN is start struck but the phenomenon of politics and cinema isn't limited to TN. There are lots of celebrities turned into politicians like someone else has said below everywhere in India. Perhaps it is a little too much in TN. Even Ronald Reagan was a movie star, so much for an advanced democratic society like America.

politics vs actor
by BP Mohanta on Jan 01, 2018 10:55 AM  | Hide replies

in our country people love actor and think that actor what did it in film and real life they are same but it not in real life and overall media also decorated actor such a way that try to make them extraordinary but it is false . time is changed people should understand that actor and politician both are different but a actor has a democratic right to do politics but people should test him before cast vote he is doing politics to serve nation or just to get power with the goodwill of his popularity of a actor

While saying that
by piri on Jan 01, 2018 09:09 AM  | Hide replies

he does not want cadres but only *volunteers* and also emphasising that his primary agenda would be to *fight corruption*, Rajnikant did not give any hint about how he plans to fund his party and its election campaigns !

According to numerous commentators, the first and biggest underlying reason for the persistence and growth of big corruption in India is the massive expenditure incurred by political parties to pay their cadre and to conduct election campaigns.

Such expenditure is not so high in the developed world primarily because its electorates invariably are fully literate and politically aware and cannot be swayed or fooled with spectacles or campaign blitzkriegs or diversionary efforts that seek to play up emotive topics, real or imagined.

Does Rajnikanth plan to campaign in a style that is radically unlike that of the DMK or the AIADMK or the Congress or the BJP, each of which relies entirely on very expensive modes of functioning funded largely with stolen public wealth ?

Or does he think his numerous fans would come forward and stay to campaign on for him at their own expense which is perhaps why he asked for volunteers and not cadres ?

How long and how far does he think he can go riding on such generosity and will of his fans ?

Or, as is being alleged in a few quarters, is Rajnikant trying to pretend that he wont need expensive cadres and big campaign funds only because he has agreed to be the proxy of the BJP - the party

that now holds an immensely bigger hoard of black money than any other party that it is able to vastly outspend every other party even for municipal elections even in regions where it traditionally has little electoral presence ?

But there have been several speculations by different writers, right ?

respectful PS shah Baiyyaji-of course you have every right to use the language - but unfortunately these slur/racial words were used without any provocation or reason (in my experience)- words reserved for hinduus from south by the hindu northies ( Many of them right wingers-even an MP recently said so- and talk of hyndu unity with such terms !! ). Ironically we don't have any such racial terms. Anyway thanks for your clarification

Rajnikanth
by raghavan sadagopan on Jan 01, 2018 09:04 AM

Sorry Mr Nadar, you are off the mark! MGR was in the party for over 25 years when he tasted success and that too as a Treasurer he questioned the party President on financial matters and hence was seen as a politician of principles and not just as an actor. Jyalalitha first made her political marks as an intelligent journalist in Thuglak of Cho and was requested by MGR to become his propaganda secretary which role she did very well for over 8 years before striking out as a leader politician. Rajni is neither and he is a rank outsider - a Maharashtrian from Karanataka who cannot speak good Tamil even after 40 years in TamilNadu. I am sure that people would show him out electorally.
