Rahul Gandhi has effectively neutralized the hindutva topic and the prime minister is lost trying to find escape routes, which people won't care as much as the emotive religious issues. Also consider, the gujaratis probably know that if they didn't get anything in the last 3 years, they won't get in the future either. The incumbent cm is hopeless and any hopes of the bjp president projecting himself will be dashed by the people. In other words, no one can match Modi and he won't contribute to Gujarat. People will make an assessment and create a situation where they will be back in demand, instead of being taken for granted

History proved again and again that temple's are the only gateway towards power.
Mughal empire foundation lead by Akbar was also based on his realization that if Mughal has to rule upper caste needs to appeased, after that British ruled on the same philosophy.
Even BSP came to power in UP only after Mayawati succeed to convince upper caste saying they will be key driver in her government.But, as soon they(upper caste) pull out their hands after recognizing her buff, BSP become untouchable again.
Congress,left and now BJP ruling because upper caste were with them.

That probably explains the panic of the trustees, whoever they are, when Rahul Gandhi went to Somnathji and prayed to him ! How could they handle him if he also starts saying Har Har Mahadev !
Visits temples. Neither I have objection if Rahul visits masjids. But I have objection when Rahul visits mandirs and masjid according to the type of electorate in the state. Mandir in Gujarat and masjid in UP.
