One can't compare congress of 2017 with 1980s when it dominated politics all over India cutting across regional and caste boundaries. Killing internal party democracy by dynasty and her sycophants has resulted in shrinking of party base to very few states and continue to lose. There are others to fill the space of opposition if congress decimates. Indian democracy doesn't depend on congress. There are many capable leaders outside congress who would do better as opposition leader.

In first place, he should not be dreaming of this position. What this chap has contributed to congress after being VP??? He lost 22 elections n a row (excluding Punjab where he was kept away in election campaign) & still want to be President of dying party. Do whatever, he has to resign in next two years after biting dust in coming elections.

Anyway, before commenting on Congress by BJP, they should at least know that RG is not facing any criminal case, including cases of corruption/mismanagement by him, unlike the Chief of some other parties.
Therefore, he can be deemed to be a person with clean background. BJP followers may also think deeply on this

The case was manufactured by Swamy who is himself coorrupt.the nation has not lost a single paise in National Herald case.It isrelated to Congress party.But what about Amit shah- the father of a spoiled child- jay shah???Both father & son will be in Jail once Congress forms the govt in Gujarat.

Same can be said that case against Amit Shah was manufactured at the behest of Teesta Setalvad. I did not know you can see the future that you are predicting a congress win in Gujarat already when the polls are yet to happen. Seriously, are you an astrologer or a numerologist? How do u know the cases against other person is not fabricated? One tends to twist the truth as per one's own belief. You are free to support RaGa in a democracy but you have no right to twist facts for convenience against people you don't like. Let the courts decide whether the cases are fabricated or not whether it is X or Y.

He is not fit to become the president even now. Why at all he be given that post. It selection and not election. It was clear from the outburst of Poonawala of Maharashtra. For the disaster of the party in near future, the senior leaders want to wash off their hands and hence supporting him to pin down the blame to his inefficiency. I know rediff will not post it.
