A Letter to the Prime Minister:Fore-warned is Fore-Armed!
by Col HPS on Oct 30, 2016 11:34 AM

Dear Prime Minister.
Here's Wishing you a Very Happy Diwali.
On a more serious note:The incessant shelling & firing across the border by the neighbouring country clearly implies that they do not heed to decent norms and mere diplomacy.Indeed, with each un-restricted bombardment on our peaceful civilians,India's moral authority gets undermined.
Aggressive talk by our leaders is taken as mere posturing! This is not good for our valiant Defence Forces.Armies have the where-withal to locate the origin of guns/mortars fired from across the border...,even when they move/disperse.
So,why don't we not knock these weapon batteries/positions entoto each time they open fire & are located?
Mutilating bodies of the enemy soldiers is an old belief/practice of these infidels...this only happens when, for whatever reason, they feel they have the upper hand. This notion must be dispelled.
Attempting to annexe Kashmir will always be the TOP priority of PAK,and,in case of a 'declared' war, they will, once again,go all out to cut one off one of the two axis for Kashmir...ie through Akhnoor. The Chamb-Jaurian-Akhnoor sector remains the most vulnerable due its terrain constraints.Indeed, after the '71 War our 'wise' leaders 'gave-away' one of the main hillocks called Mandyala Heights, near Chamb, which was firmly held by us,on flimsy grounds, and, failed to re-occupy it for whatever reasons. This now gives the enemy un-restricted.full visual domination for miles & miles, even beyond Jaurian, and, thus

What dangerous ?
by piri on Oct 30, 2016 09:36 AM  | Hide replies

Ordinary jawans, hailing from poor or very poor households and who joined the army only to escape starvation, will continue to be killed on both sides of the border while the political classes and the army top brass (the Generals, Lt Generals, etc) will continue to eat, drink and make merry from their opulent and safe perches far away from the borders and play patriots in loud and shrill ways to fool commoners and protect their vested interests !

G.B Shaw, in his book Arms and the man, could not have been proven true better.

Even five decades back they offered for recruitment out of patriotic feeling and to keep up regimental configurations intact even if poor.

You seem to be living in a dream world.Jawans do not join the army to escape starvation.Nor do they belong to poor households. You seem to believe that the citizens of India are starving. Are you a commie ??Get your facts right. First talk to an army officer and educate yourself about the Indian armed forces.

What and how much you know about the background of ordinary soldiers is very clear from your statement. Piri is 100% true about the background of foot soldiers. Not even 1% of these lower categories will be from cities. The poor peasant/remote/unconnected background of these people do not understand what is in store for them. Having curtailed of their fundamantal rights through the army/Navy AF acts they are rendered helpless and at the mercy of the Commissioned ranks. You, Piyush, seem to be from that elite class to react like this.

How do you assume that people from cities are more well off than people from villages. You mr Jaykumar do not have the slightest idea from where the soldiers are recruited.70 % of the soldiers are from the traditional Martial class. And they are not poor as per your definition.Majority have large large land holdings. Can you make a guess as to where the maximum soldiers are recruited from.Do you have any idea??Have you ever talked to a defence officer.Indian army officers are not elite in the way you you think. They are commanders of thier men and as brave as the any soldier. But you commies can never understand this.Any way your ideology is dead and you still live in a make believe world.

Ok, Mr Bhargava, since you pose as an expert on the background of army jawans in general, please tell us the approximate break up of the Jawans in terms of the states from which they hail.

Please tell us what proportion of the ordinary jawans have large land holdings and please do add what you mean by large landholdings.

Mind you, we are talking about the sepoys and havaldars and lance naiks and such ordinary soldiers, not about the army officers.

Common !

If you haven't noticed, I was referring to Jawans - the soldiers who die on the frontlines, not about officers - who enjoy perks, privileges and insulation from hostilities that are immensely more and disproportionately high compared to the pittances thrown at the Jawans !

Indian Army Generals and all the officers of Indian ARMY are more concerned about the welfare of the JAWANS they command than your phony, deceitful concern of a Commie.

Dont try such devilish tricks now ... We know your hidden agenda of Commies

Communist (commie is an acronym used by American GIs at the height of the Cold war) or not, what Shaw described in his book reflects the exact truth, right ?

While war and death and destruction are all linked to romantic notions of nationalism for middle and upper class people who don't go to war at all and remain cocooned far away from the warfront, they are nothing but misery, chaos, death, disabilities and finally poverty for those ordinary soldiers who actually fight at the frontlines, right ?

Nothing really romantic about war and fighting for those who fight it !

by R ponnabalam on Oct 29, 2016 06:16 PM

We see Pakistan -India relations also in India’s vote bank mirror. That is self defeating.Until the fixation with vote bank considerations cease there is no escape from the troubles from Pakistan. It is not just next month .Nawaz Sheriff told it U.N. there cannot be peace with India until Kashmir ---,ie Kashmir is handed over to Pakistan .We are declaring many things without considering this for our brother Nation Pakistan. All our one time brethren Jinnah, Bhutto, of erstwhile Bombay Musharaf of pre independence Delhi, Nawaz Sheriff of united Punjab are all at our throat. After Kashmir Mr.Nawaz Sherrif would tell all India existing as a Nation is a problem and so India should be handed over to Pakistan. The world politics would play the ball then also.INDIA wake up to reality R.PONNAMBALAM
