Wage war against malnutrition
by Thing on Oct 08, 2016 08:47 AM

It seems like the govt. alone is incapable (for whatever reasons), to solve this problem. There is need for private entities or NGOs focused on nutrition to step in and do something. It is a national shame if children are dying of hunger and malnutrition. The PM has asked Pakistan to jointly wage war against poverty. Here is one example of where something has to be done on war footing.

Things won't change, due to political mindsets.

I belong to Palghar district. The. late Chief Minister Shri Sudhakar Naik had established a Sub-District with Head Quarters at Jawhar to bring the govt. closer home.
But now we have a new Palghar District with all connectivity only for political considerations.
Could not have Jawhar been made a full fledge district?
Because it would be difficult for the political leaders to go all the way to Jawhar which is a hilly terrain and which has not connectivity what-so ever.
Just imagine a daily wage earner who has to visit the Collector office at Palghar who comes from Jawhar. It will take him all day just to commute Not to mention the loss of wages. Also what guarantee that his work will be done in a day.
There are some childish comments why should they have more children. They are tribals with no contact with the outside world. Forget your TV and other knowledge gather medium.
It has come to my knowledge that they will wait outside the office or dispensary to be attended to.
You can barge in because you know your rights and are educated (if I may accept it).
Since they are not educated and not aware of their rights the local govt. officials take them for a ride. The article already blares it all.
Only a political will will make a difference.
Remember the tiny dot call Singapore. It was only because of the political will.
Jai Hind.

seed of corruption was sown by congress and family. you cannot blame one particular person for the problem. such malnutrition deaths r happening in the country from many years. we must understand that merely free ration won't help. root cause of the problem must be treated. definitely corruption is one of the biggest cause but others like illiteracy, women suppression, child marriage, improper family planning, substance abuse among economically backward people can't be ignored.

Don't bring the topic of corruption into it, though it is the root cause of the state of affairs.
When there was similar starvation in the tribal hamlets of Aarey Milk Colony in Mumbai city the then government under the congress/ncp rule, the government in its wisdom sent a team to make a survey.
The first thing a normal person would do is rush in the doctors and food provisions.
Aarey is inside Mumbai city.
These are our leaders attitudes.
The tribal don't count.
Tribals have been living in the forests since time immemorial and were happily living their lives, city dwellers have just come.
Presently other communities are flexing their muscles to enforce their writ.
As I said things won't change but will become worse.
Jai Hind

BPL
by Rajendra Jambhorkar on Oct 05, 2016 03:31 PM

Below Powerty Line (Ration) cards are availabe on paying bribe, and ABL public has got them. Worst mentality of Govt. Employee: they still want BPL public to beg for BPL cards and pay them bribe. Even after 7 pay commission they want bribe money, although most of their salary remain in Bank account- unutilized. Some of Creamy post holder don't even withdraw their salary for months. All their expenses and leisures are met from bribe money. Why not Govt. compulsorily send these BABUs to field and distribute BPL cards and low price food to needy people. Criminal action against those who wrongfully acquired (and issued)such cards. Can we make law against corruption as crime against nation?

if you are close to these tribals we can help in following way .Get few young boys to volunteer in following ways . 1 Train boys in naturopathy so that most of the diseases can be cured without money thru water and air. I can train them in 2 weeks time .We also pay stipend to boys as incentive. 2 These boys can also be given basic education and interact with NGOs for collecting donations like clothes food from towns.
