Armed forces are our best guard. Regardless of leadership, as a Indian we should remember that.

Where are the M 777 Howitzers ?
by Sumeer Sharma on May 26, 2016 08:03 AM

The most critical need of the Army is artillery guns with the Bofors down to just about 120 pieces operational. What happened to the transfer of the assembly line to manufacture M 777 Howitzers from the US to India? Need of the hour is for the Dhanush guns to be manufactured by multiple private partners which can be exported after fulfilling the needs of our forces.

Lahane, you are wide off the mark. The issue is whether Modi has lived up to the expectations of the soldiers. You are talking through your hat.

Govt is doing its best with the current resources for the defense
by rajesh venkatraman on May 25, 2016 08:45 AM

The present govt will do everything possible from their end for the soldiers but it will take time as the mess created by the UPA is larger than earlier thought be it acquisition of arms and armaments. The OROP and seventh pay commission will take a lot from the budgeted amount but govt is also giving priority to different private companies to develop arms and make in india concept for realization will take time as the land acquisition and factory need to be setup and resources trained. If BJP us in power for next 10 yrs until 2026 we are sure to be a developed nation.
We will need to make more automated systems than depend on human network in the army. For intelligence we will need more human across the border and for guarding we will need more technical and automated ones.
We can have satellites to guard our borders and have machines to guard from the sky to have clear view of the activities happening across the border. We need to have many tie-ups in the engine production for our ailing aircrafts and fixing of arms to our Tejas LCA aircraft which is much cheaper than in the market for the first line defence. along the border and not for deep strikes we need allround arms across the defence teams be it army navy and airforce as the arms are depleting and outdated.
We need to increase the missile team for quick response

Modi and Defence
by MS Chandrashekar on May 24, 2016 09:00 PM

Implementation of OROP Giving the much needed operational freedom t0 armed forces and fastest clearance of defence acquisition projects are the hall mark of Modi's government. Armed forces are much happier now than they were 10 years back!!

Modi's promise to defence forces
by VijayKumar Bhakta on May 24, 2016 07:41 PM

Lets accept it that the UPA government has left the country and the economy in such a mess that the new government has to work carefully and after working out priorities. I am sure he will not go back on his promises, but will have prioritized and work according to that.
