Not a socioeconomic issue
by palanki narayana on Jul 12, 2016 06:18 AM

Kashmir issue is not socioeconomic issue. It is more of a religious and identity issue. Sheikh Abdullah was able to convince Kashmiris to join India where he felt Kashmiriat would be safe. We have to introspect why the situation changed diametrically.

is like a 'monkey', between two 'cats'( India and Pakistan), but a smart one! Whenever They need a package from India, separatists would raise Pakistan flag, and our state has to come out with 'doles'. They have been brought up and its in their education system that India is bad, and they need to be independent. The common Kashmiri thinks that they would economically develop after their seoeration from India. They are relying on Pakistan which is in mayhem to achieve this economic development. They forget that most of the revenue comes from tourism which Indians generate( and from apples and Kesar!!). They feel that oil prices will go down after so called freedom. How they reach such conclusions is difficult to comprehend. We need to stop doles already being given to them, like subsidized rice, electricity etc. And stop giving tourism to them. maybe Allah will give them wisdom someday!!

Absolutely. They cannot feed on Indian tax payers money and contribute nothing but violence from time to time. It must be made clear to them that no matter what, Kashmir will not be given up, even if the sun starts rising from the west. They may go if they wish.

An appeal to Kashmiris
by Mahadeva Mishra on Jul 11, 2016 09:46 PM  | Hide replies

I completely agree. The root cause is an average Kashmirs do not consider himself as Indian. What are they going to achieve with either independence or merging with Pakistan? Look at the cry of Baluch people to get independence from Pakistan. They were forcibly annexed to Pakistan. The same fate would have happened to Kashmir if India had not intervened. Today Baluchistan is blaming India for not protecting them against Pakistan aggression. In retrospect what did India achieve cos of Kasmir. A life long headache and drainage of our resources.
In contrast why can't a Kashmiri consider himself to be Indian and the youth pick up a gun to protect India's border? Are we born Kashmiris? At what stage during our upbringing this virus enters our system and makes us loose our precious life to bullets?
Please have a change of heart my brothers and sisters from Kashmir. A strong and prosperous India is good for you too. How long will it take you to understand this simple fact. Fight to have freedom from dogmatic religion which pushes one to pre-historic ages. Fight to get freedom from poverty. From illiteracy. From over population.
