Security at Pathankot.
by kaberi gupta on Jan 05, 2016 12:27 PM

On the night of Thursday-Friday a group of terrorists abducted the SUV of Talwinder Singh. They also took his cell phone, through which they contacted their handlers in Pakistan. Security knew about these calls. Why no action was taken to catch the terrorists? These people were at large for 27 hours in the township of Pathankot before they start their operation. They entered into the airbase by climbing 12 feet high boundary wall. They must have used a ladder or one might have jumped the wall by first standing on some body's shoulder. If the first option is true then how regular security did not see that movement with a ladder? If second option is true then there must have been more than six people in that group. How could they fight for more than 3 days? If they were carrying dry foods, water and lots of ammunition and grenades, then how could they be able to get these inside the premises? Was there breach in the boundary wall? So much of ammunition must have been stored inside in advance and the question is who helped them from inside to store dry food, water and ammunition? Defense intelligence should should take up the matter in their control to find out how this incident happened? Pathankot Airbase is a secured area under the control of Defense Ministry. Why we are not hearing any thing from Air force?

In hindsight there can be many options that seem better than what actually was employed. It could also be true that NSA messed up a bit and we hope that he learns and does not repeat the mistake. But what is to be noted is that for the first time, India had intelligence and had moved NSG to Pathankot and was waiting for the terrorists. This itself is a major victory and shows signs of improvement in Indian strategy.

Why reveal how the securtity agencies were warned?
by siddhartha xx on Jan 05, 2016 12:23 PM

so basically next time terrorists will make sure they don;t repeat the mistake.

I don;t know why everyone wants to reveal every minute detail when some things should be kept secert.

Ajai shuklas Bias is well known

There may be merit in some of Ajai Shuklas points because once an operation is over you can always find fault with it. His aversion to the present government set up is well known

this is same ajay shukla who once said (few months back) that DRDO is doing very good job. Iam not saying this government's handling is right or wrong. Everyehere in the world, some lapses do happen. for ex. russian FSB warned FBI about likely blast in boston , when FBI did not move in , they escalated to CIA , even after doing that you had a blast. sitting and commenting is easy but ground realities will be difficult. Iam sure they would have taken note of lapses and must be doing corretive action. I will put this question to shukla, how much time you would have taken , if you were in position of NSA

Don't jump your gun to the messenger did you get the message. It is very clear that the NSA messed up this operation.By the way mr.Shukla is not the enemy of BJP or India to criticise everything, he is a retired veteran and it is his duty to point out security lapses to the Govt. as well as provide factual information to the public rather than toeing the line of the Government.
