An advice

Dear Namboothiries,
An advice to you. If job of priest is not economically viable, QUIT the job and DO some WORK. This is the era of Globalization. Let other communities do the priest work, why you need 99% reservation in priest jobs?? Govt. jobs are just 2% of all jobs. All other jobs are in Private Sector where no reservation is applicable. Hence start to do some work. 98% of jobs are for you.

Your argument is very illogical. Why would other communities want to do an activity where they dont get paid well . The issue that is being higlighted is reservations at the cost of merit.

Brahmins have Historically been Cultured to maintain Temples and Tradition (Especially The Priestly Class from Religious Institutions - Not the Modern Day Brahmin who has Formal Education and other vices and being Brahmin by Birth alone).

Their Forefathers were also Priests and they will be having well defined Rules of Do's and Dont's to suit the customs.

Hence only such people must be encouraged to do Pujas rather than the Common man.

RESERVATION ONLY FOR ECONOMICALLY BACKWARD
by Chandan Naha on Nov 25, 2015 12:58 PM

It is high time that we redraw our reservation principle.
Reservation in education and jobs should only be offered to the financially poor families ( whose monthly income is below a predetermined level) irrespective of caste or religion. In fact one brother's family may be eligible for it while his rich sibling's family may not. While a poor Brahmin may claim reservation, a rich dalit may remain outside it. And as far as higher study or class I level jobs are concerned, there should not be any reservation at all.

So long as the meritorious people are neglected
by the ruling class of the State and centre,
our country can never become a superpower even after 100yrs.

the brain-drain of the meritorious people of this country is the reflection of our Government's reservation policy

It is gateway of direct entry into politics by backwards,SC and ST, nothing to deal with needy and deprived class within their category. If they are so serious let them first take correction that none who pays Income Tax will be entitled to take this benefit.

kudos to Bhattathirippad for stating that anyone of any caste can train and be a temple priest provided he has the proper qualifications.

Steps of this kind should be encouraged to increase the unity among the upper castes and lower castes.

I agree that reservation should be provided to those who are highly economically backward in the upper castes.

Impact of reservations

Our media are bothered about the global ranks of our universities but the positions are just allocated to various castes and communities. How can we ever improve?

I am not totally against reservations. For example, there should be Muslims in the police force for obvious reasons. But quotas should not be excessive.

THE GOVT OF INDIA SEEMS TO BE THE BIGGEST FOOL IN THE WORLD by not promoting merit but caste . bringing the country to a bad situation I wonder why 9 th pass person has become the Deputy CM of Bihar / why illetrate wife of lalu was made the PUPPET CM of Bihar ./ WHY doesn't the central govt make graduation compulsory to be at the higher post in the govt .

ALL INDIAN CITIES ARE ALIKE LEAVING THE languages of display boards -- same problem everywhere -- BAD ROADS / TRAFFIC CONGESTION / WATER SUPPLY / uncleanliness / concrete jungles in large cities etc

I strongly agree that Brahmins are the poorest in the entire Indian society. The entire society nurses a grudge against them for yesterday's untouchability.

The fight should be against social discrimination and NOT against already poor, marginalized, hapless Brahmins. The entire reservation system is ill-conceived and must be scrapped immediately to make India a truly glorious society.

Reservation since 1947 has wrecked havoc on all fronts – Administration - Development medical - judicial - educational . . . . . Political parties (with their vote bank policy in mind) kept harping on this issue rather than focusing on development. Does any politician take treatment from Govt Hospitals,

Slog,Sweat, get a third rate job and furnish all the essential brief for the S.C, OBC boss who is under qualified, less experienced so that he can make up for his lack of merit, save his char. You pay taxes promptly because it is a sin to cheat the govt. and die as a poor brahmin satisfied that you have lived a frugal life as ordained in the vedas and let your sons become sweepers and peons or serving coffee at railway station while the daughter of Jagjivan Ram becomes speaker in L.S. and K.R.Narayan's daughter an IFS with choice posting ! No Kanimozhi,or Mulayam's DIL can ever become M.Ps if ever there is a one to one fight with educated class and this privilege they will perpetuate by importing logic that will not stand a democratic scrutiny in a civilized nation . What came to them freely for 65 years, they will not let go and will talk of centuries of oppression as Mayavathy wears a currency garland of crores while the poor brahmin dies of penury !Arise and awake and rest not till the injustice that was heaped is torn asunder and individual development based on merit is established.

What is wrong in seeking minority status ?
by Raghavendra Rao on Nov 23, 2015 09:38 PM

Brahmins are theorist people in our country, but they are the most intellectual s in fact. That isn't why most of them go for accounts and lawyers and becomevCA's and eminent lawyers ,since they are deprived of government jobs .That is secular India and casteism us the way of life.
