by buranudeen mohamed on Nov 08, 2015 07:34 PM  | Hide replies

In all the BJP leaders tongue Shani Bhagawan sat and influenced. Otherwise why seasoned leader like bhagwat talks about reservation in crucial time of elction?, why Modi talks about DNA of Bihar? why Amit Shah tells patakha in Pakistan? So sixth reason is their seasoned leaders bad tongue

You are wrong! The pseudo-seculars who are against Modi and BJP, will rake up some minor issue or other to put them down, like they did this time! One thing is proven-that elections can be won by 'mantra-tantra' like Nitish did,and wearing 'Sherawali locket'like Lalu! Then play the "MY card'(Mslim-Yadav card),which is 'secular'politics according to Lalu!Anyway this victory is not a Dharmic one. So,Biharis and all of us will see its effect over the coming 5 years!

Caste only consideration
by Raman Krishnaswamy on Nov 08, 2015 06:37 PM  | Hide replies

Dr. Jagjivan Ram built a huge palatial house with all modern amenities in his village Chandwa, amidst the surrounding squalor, muck and dust. He had a electric substation to power his house, but the surrounding huts had to be satisfied with kerosene lanterns. The public thought nothing of it and elected him with a huge majority election after election. Such is the caste consciousness and hero worship in Bihar.

Reason 5
by bakchod on Nov 08, 2015 06:35 PM  | Hide replies

Actually the last reason is the only reason. The reasons number 1 to 4 only affected the winning margin.

BJP was always either the number 2 or number 3 party (maybe number 3 after 2010) in Bihar. So when the No. 1 party (Lalu) and No. 2 party (Nitish) came together, the result was a foregone conclusion. To add to that even Congress joined taking the vote bank of traditional supporters of these parties to above 50%. BJP never had a chance.

In Lok Sabha elections, JDU and RJD contested separately, helping BJP to sweep the election.

BJP now needs to completely shut down the loud mouths and focus solely on development.

Modi's Defeat in Bihar
by yaswant on Nov 08, 2015 06:08 PM  | Hide replies

Neither Nitish nor Lalu nor Rahul has defeated Modi.It is only ego of Modi that made him to shed tears. Now people of India have realized that Modi can deliver alluring speeches, can exhibit various actions like an actor and can cunningly smile, but can't rule effectively, can's suppress unwanted and unauthorized interference of Rastriya Swayam Sevak Sangh and can's resolve hardships of mass.People also knew that Modi is simply favoring aristocrat industrialists and that he has initiated all the steps contrary to the interest of common man.In my view, these are the factors made Modi weeping in Bihar.

Hindsight is a great virtue !!
by Srinivas on Nov 08, 2015 05:42 PM  | Hide replies

Having known the result, it's very easy for Rediff to find 5 reasons for BJP's defeat. Had the BJP won, Rediff would have found some other reasons - Namo's image, promise of development, Lalu's presence in the Mahagatbandhan being a minus etc. etc.

Rediff - if you really had the guts, you should have published this article "before" the results were known.

It is a chimera that voting bjp is like voting for development. The sooner the argument is put up, then everybody opposing BJP is dubbed anti-development.
