LET MUMBAI STREETS BE WASHED OUT ALL THOSE DIRTS ND SEWAGE WASTE WHAT BMC could not do. Raining heavily and flooding for few days is a blessing and NOT a curse to Mumbaites.

Mumbai stuck due to Heavy Rains
by Bharat Indian on Jun 19, 2015 01:15 PM  | Hide replies

Its a shame to see how shabily the Metropolis is badly managed, bigger shame is that we do not know our rights & like fools go & vote for these jackals in every election.
BMC is probably the most corrupt organisation, with rules that permit local corporaters to grant work to their own contractors, naturally they receive huge kick backs for that at the common mans cost. Why cant BMC have strict Service Level Agreements rolled out as private companies do for their contractors.
Unfortunately even in BJP skeletons are slowly falling out of the Cupboard, Vasundhara Raje taking 11.45 Cr bribe from Lalit Modi for her sons company, Sushma Swaraj's daughter & husband work as legal counselors for Lalit Modi.
Our last hope hangs on PM Narendra Modi & BJP President Amit Shah, if they can set example to curb corruption then we are in good hands, otherwise we are already marooned guys take care of your self & families-we are moving towards jungle raaj..

It is not BJP or Congress. This is the fate of all urban people. I am seeing this Mumbai Flooding due to rain for the past 40 years. Crores of money is spend on rain preparation by the corporation every year and every year the situation remains same. Only some beggars or rag pickers who turned as politicians have become super rich. situation will continue to remain same for another century.

Monsoon Havoc from start of rains itself
by K Bhaskaran on Jun 19, 2015 10:48 AM  | Hide replies

The Authorities, be it Goevrnment Agencies, BMC, etc. are interested only to loot public money and not to ensure smooth functioning of the rail, road, or sewage services etc. The Contractors do some shoddy jobs and get certified by the BMC officials concerned. The ruling parties clamour that 95% of repairs have been completed etc. The sad part of the whole annual rituals are neither the Government nor BMC take plight of the public at large since the season brings them huge amounts of money. Today only the papers reported that the Certificates submitted bear forged signatures. The city is orphaned. How the people can suffer and survive the rest of the monsoon period if this is the case in the beginning of monsoon with no trains, road transport and flooded roads.

We have just too many people in India. And Mumbai gets flooded when there is high tide since water cannot flow out. That causes water to accumulate in depressions in land such as Railway tracks. There is no way that the water can flow out, or indeed dry out during the rains since there is no sun.
Agreed politicians are to blame in many cases, but so are citizens. But it is also a fact that citizens of India lack basic civic sense. They dump stuff wherever convenient in every town or city.
In Bengaluru, where I live, citizens have not been very receptive to waste segregation. That means we are forced as a city to find garbage dumps close by.
Much of the this muck is water impervious, which clogs drains.
Time to pull up our socks and work for the country. Just thinking that politicians are useless is not going to change the situation.

Sir, You know the Bengaluru is not having a proper rain discharge facilities. If we have the same intensity of rain as that of Mumbai, entire Bangaluru city will be drowned.

Corruption

Mumbai can & will never be prepared for natural or man made disasters. Because since decades monies apportioned to its infrastructure has and is being eaten away by corrupt politicians & contractors are forced to part with commissions to get jobs. This city is only used as a treasure trove by these looters.
