I spent
by piri on Jun 04, 2015 01:41 PM  | Hide replies

a good part of my childhood and early youth in Trivandrum. During this period, I was part of several groups of friends (many of them chrzitians and muxlims) who visited the Padmanabhaswamy temple and walked around in its inner labyrinths in mundu. No one ever asked whether any of us was a non-hyndu. The only thing they cared for was the fee levied for the mundus lent to us.

Well, as a matter of fact, I also entered and walked around inside the landmark Palayam mosque in Trivandrum (which is just about 2 km from the Padmanabhaswamy temple) once.

Just as in the case of my non-hyndu friends at the Padmanabhaswamy temple, no one bothered about my presence at the mosque.

Kerala society is arguably the least touchy about religious identities (I will emphasise the word *least* which does not mean that there is no touchiness at all). And this perhaps is one of the reasons why politicians vending religious identities as a means to garner votes and to cover up their acts of theft do not make much headway in Kerala !

Sure, the Muxlim league keeps winning 10 to 20 assembly seats in every election. But outside of Malappuram district, the hold of religion and religious identites on the minds of voters is far weaker than that in the minds of most North Indian voters !

Yes. But Mecca is not in Kerala. Talk about religious places. Not picnic spots.

It is surprising that media creayes a big hue and cry when its related to Hindu sites.I am sure no Media has guts to write why Non Muslims are not permitted to enter Mosques. Its better to respect each religion and not create un necessary issues which instigate a normal citizen.

What is wrong if nonhindus are not appoed in hindu temples. It is surely for sanctity and security purpose.I advise rediff to give details of mosques where nonmuslims are not allowed. The central Govt should keep strict watch on trouble makers who raise unnecessary issus to incite passions

yeah we wont understand. we did not invade foreign countries, subjugate their population for centuries and trashed their faith in their own country and create a minority in their country which hates their own centuries old culture and traditions.

Yes. Mecca has a lot to learn from Gurudwaras. Their eyes are still shut and need to be opened.
