Media misguiding
by sri aytha on Jul 28, 2015 10:11 AM

Media has been painting the world with articles that lead readers to assume Yakub is innocent and framed... he is not.. he came to Nepal not to surrender but to consult lawyer.. he convinced his family members to surrender may be due to some assurances given by investigating authorities but no where no one mentioned him mercy... they are cleverly using media and media foolishly publishing articles supporting them.. sure death penalty date could be extended to finish one more round of investigations but courts are not fools to uphold the verdict just like that

Yakoob Memon

It is a matter of chance that Member(Inv.), CBDT and I met with Director,CBI in his office on the day Yakoob was arrested in Delhi, albeit in a totally different context. Before we could discuss the matter at hand, he informed that Yakoob has been apprehended, but asked us to keep this news to ourselves till the news is officially confirmed. The small discussion that ensued thereafter on this matter gave me a clear impression that Yakoob was arrested and that he had not surrendered.

Since the role of judiciary is not unquestionable and hundred percent just as is evident from many controversial cases, there should not be any haste in hanging Yakoob and no rooms for criticism should be left.

There is no strong case...

...for having second thoughts about the suitability of the "death penalty" in any stages of the case as he did not actually surrender but was picked up informally and his intention to surrender was not because of guilt and it appears his conduct later on was only due to lack of choice.

Surrender Theory
by Prashant Gupta on Jul 27, 2015 12:11 AM  | Hide replies

If one kills and surrenders, will he become innocent? If so, that will be the end of social order. Such theories are really dangerous and should be rejected right away.

Raman's Article - Dangerous precedent.
by Krishna Nagarajan on Jul 26, 2015 11:39 PM

This will set a dangerous precedent. At no point Raman has ever considered the pain and sufferings of the victims and their kins in the 1993 blast, many of them innocent and the sole bread winners of the family. Tomorrow what would prevent Dawood, Tiger and other convicts for similar treatment by activists, politicians and celebrities. Punishment has been rendered by the court after following the due process of law and after giving the accused right to legal course. At some point tooth for tooth and nail for nail is a must in rarest cases and 1993 was one such ghastly incident.
