It seems it is a practice of Brilliant peoples to capture their chair after retirement age. No promotion to younger peoples ? These old peoples are brilliant to drag the project without any responsibility and wasting public money in the name of research AND we have tolerated. Why not they consider themselves for advisory post without any rumeration, if they are too patriotics ?
In Indian science and research, people are more bothered for awards and fellowships which are mainly based on research publications and non-viable patents. All the top position holders in science and research publish mainly manipulated papers to grab such awards and fellowships. Otherwise, one mediocre promotes his own student to get the awards and honors. Only they hold the topmost positions. One left, other comes of the same category. Such awards and fellowships need to be abolished for proper growth of Indian science and research. Scientists and researchers should be punished fro non-viable patents as well.

Pandiain, if its true, then why Saraswat- Chander's predecessorhas been inducted in NITI Ayog? Truth is Dr Chander- a brilliant mind refused to support the Govt on validity of 'India's ancient aviation science' Modi is playing a game with the Indian Governance. We Indians have to pay for his foolishness.

reading such secret and sacred books is only birth rights of brahmins, so he wouldnt even have got that. :-)
And how come the entire blame came on Chander, as mentioned in the article,the inefficiency in the DRDO is not a year old but it is since long and Saraswat has served for good 4 years and i dont understand what extra Saraswat has achieved in DRDO to become a permanent member of NITI aayog. If at all axe has to fell then both should have been out, as Chander is the chief of DRDO since 2013 only unlike Saraswat who had 4 years.

People who fired him don't understand the ABC of weapons development. Well, they don't even know the ABC of any product development that involves technology.
Yes we need more energy and people who can achieve more but if you look at the way Chanders expulsion is not right...In todays scenario even in corporates you get a warning, then notice period. The decision might be right but unethical.
