Why Patels are angry with Modi and the BJP
by vk pochiraju on Aug 25, 2015 02:51 PM  | Hide replies

Sir, Its 69 years of Independence. Still underdevelopment in downtrodden classes. Reservations for 10 years started but is continuing now its 7 decades. Many are leaving India because of non-availability of opportunities for Metorious. So what is to be done for the sake of this nation without causing hurt to the all Sections of ppl of this nation. It is for all the political parties to think since you are intellectuals and all the enactments are being carried by you ppl only. Take a bold, dare and healthy decision to satisfy the needs of the ppl. Ppl are opting for Govt jobs bks safety and security of job first comes and the 2nd thing to earn from unauthorized sources. I mean the %age is very high in so far as 2nd option is concerned. This should be changed to tackle the situation please. More teeth is required for Anti-corrpution laws so that can curb all menaces as well as the problem of reservations please.

Mr VK, i am happy to note that starting May 2015, the registrar office will not accept money transactions by cash for more that 50,000.This is welcome sign. As more black money is invested in land and construction driving up the cost of real estate. This is the first step and more (hopefully) will follow. : )

Here is an alternative...
by Suresh on Aug 25, 2015 02:50 PM  | Hide replies

1. Provide reservations only to those kids where none of their parents are degree holders.
2. Provide reservations to only those kids, whose father/mother is a degree holder but not employed professionally.
Option 1 : An educated Father/Mother knows the importance of education. They should educate their kids in turn, so they too can get a decent job.
Option 2 : Educated but not employed parents have missed their oppurtunity to be gainfully employed, so their wards should be given a chance as well.

Both the above options helps uplift a family from illiteracy or gives a chance to come up from poverty. It also allows all caste / community a chance to come up. Note not all Brahmans are rich or not all SC/ST are educated. Even then, not all educated get jobs.

These options ropes in deserving candidates and gives them a chance at hope. To this mix, the govt/private can add sponsorship.

Alternatively,
let reservation continue including to Patels,
BUT
No reservation benefits to siblings of:
1) Past and present Ministers, MLAs, MPs, Corporators,
2)IAS,IPS,IRS,IFS officers, class I &Class II officers of Government officials.
3)Those who has travelled overseas for whatever purpose.
4)Those filing IT returns.
5) Any such criteria.
Violations be regarded as criminal offence and degrees awarded will be withdrawn.

Offer reservations with these conditions.

The solution to this is to have several quality institutions so that people would not have to clamour for the few seats.

Actually - there can only be a few positions at the top and hence, in reality, there cannot be 40 IITs and 75 IIMs ... but we cannot accept this and that is where the whole problem starts. In India we keep talking about Harvard, Stanford and Yale ... how many such institutions does US have ?? We should ask ourselves this question - answer will be automatic.

Why did Quota / Reservation created in the first place?
by Suresh on Aug 25, 2015 02:29 PM  | Hide replies

Friends.. the whole idea of Quota or Reservation was to uplift a section of the society that was unable to alleviate themselves from the clutches of poverty because they were not educated to get jobs. Mostly the SC/ST were mountain dwellers or castrated from education system. The idea was to bring them to mainstream and slowly but steadily eradicate reservation as by that time they are all educated or understand the need for education. But things have chnaged now...
1. Some SC/ST are very well educated
2. Some SC/ST are very rich
3. Not all educated can still get a job, so they back to poverty
4. Poor are not always illiterate (Poor Brahmans as ex).
5. Meritorious do not get seats as they are now displaced by not meritorious (affected are OC candidates)

What we need is a new system to replace Reservation. Especially reservation should not be provided to professions that involves life (Engineers, Doctors, Aviators, IPS, IAS etc)

We need Scholarship for meritorious underprivileged kids. Set a common cutoff for meritorious candidates. Create additional seats for deserving underprivileged students, but do not affect the meritorious category.

Create Vocational stream for less performers with heavy recruiting of students from SC/ST/Minority.

This way all sections get seats if they are meritorious or at least get a job or capable of starting their own, by way of vocational courses.

I am sure the politicians can easily think what i have laid down here. Nothing is perfect.

By This arguement by this so called Patel. Every one should get the QOATA why only Patels. Because there are millions of students must not have get throgh the medical for the same very reason for which this Patel could not get the seat. Make quata system for every body.

Remain Backward to avail privileges
by MOHAN PB on Aug 25, 2015 02:19 PM

In our country, it is dangerous to progress and move forward. If and only if we remain backward, can we become eligible for various privileges, including quotas in education and employment.

With immediate effect, let us reserve 50% of places in the Indian Cricket team for SC, ST and BC. We could also negotiate with other cricket playing countries for privileges for special consideration when these players play. For example, if they score one run, it should count as two. They should have two chances per innings and so on.
