A attempt to describe US India relations would be...
by Rahul Khaitan on Sep 28, 2014 06:21 PM  | Hide replies

- Fantastic at an NRI level.
- Average Economic Partnership.
- Absolutely non aligned at the geopolitical level.

Every summit attempt is a US push to further it's economic and geo political interests, primarily aimed at it's self gains and an India refusing to play game.

Unless the US finds the will to tailor it's foreign policy in dealing with India, it may be tough for both countries to make any headway that is substantial and worthy of the potential. Ofcourse, one's got to admit that there is nothing so pressingly urgent for it to spend time in doing that.

Most of the Indians love America and the way it has created a way of life that is definitely worth being envious of, but disagree when it comes to how it deals with the world in general, barring a few exceptions.

when dealing with the world, US looks after its own people's interests first, and that's reasonable.

Actually US and India are still not friends
by Indian Sadhu on Sep 28, 2014 05:18 PM  | Hide replies

They look after their interests only and I just hope that we learn to look after ours. Whether we become friends or not is for the future to tell.

Are people ignorant or just trolls?
by doyel mitra on Sep 28, 2014 04:34 PM  | Hide replies

After reading some of the comments, I wonder if these people are seriously ignorant about history or they are just BJP trolls trying to portray as if for last 65 years nothing has happened...their comments depict as if the Nehru-Gandhi family and other Congress leaders have only looted the country. These social media supporters (read trolls) hardly give any credit to even early NDA regime.

It seems as Modi is the new messiah and will do everything!

If nothing would have been done in past 65 years, then NaMo would have got a country whose condition would have been a country with least amount of infrastructure, famine, epidemics and other socio-economical problems just like Somalia, Liberia, Pakistan, and other poor countries.

NaMo would have to be busy in feeding the people and building infrastructure.

If the previous Government would not have worked, India would not have been even considered as next superpower... If previous government would not have build the infrastructure like bridges, hydroelectric power stations, ISRO, IITs, IIMs, today Namo could not have shown his oratory skills during Mangalyan success or would not have been inaugurating projects completed by previous government.

Even though I am for NaMo, I totally agree with you.

Over the last 20-25 years, India has become a strong country, not because of NaMo but because of Manmohan Singh's economic policies starting when he was the Finance Minister.

It is the same MMS,who ruined the indian economy in 10 yrs to the bankruptcy level. It is during his tenure as PM,CAD raised so much that, govt was forced to plan for external borrowing as it happened during 90's!! When NDA govt left in 2004,economy was strong and CAD was under control, which even Chidambaram,UPA commerce minister acknowledged in 2004.Now who should b given credit for the the messed up financial condition of India during 2004 -2014? MMS ruined the economy during 2004-14, mercilessly.

Please check the archives. Then India's Vice-President Dr S Radhakshnan (who later became the President) represented India at the funeral. I was a junior class school student then in 1963. I kept paper cuttings, which was one of hobbies.
I'd like to have your reply.

You are correct, Dr Radhakrishnan was the President then.
However, as far I remember, he was present, as India's President. Wikipaedia does not always give the correct information, as it depends on inputs from various sources, not always verified for authenticity.
Unfortunately I have lost the paper cuttings. Please make a query to the Indian Embassy in Washington, the offices of the Presidents of India and USA, through sites which are accessible to public.
Please also make a query to the TIME-LIFE magazine. As far as I remenber, the Life mag of 6 Dec 1963 carried a photograph showing Dr Radhakrishnan, along with King Baudouin I of Belgium and Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, walking in a row among those who attended Kennedy's funeral. I am also searching all the sources.
Please let us exchange the correct information we find. Many thanks.

i dont think so. the moment us choose the paki and tried everything in the book to scuttle us since then. please every one assuming that we were or are friends are naive. even their most staunch allies i.e. egypt (mubarak) was left off like a hot potato. they just need puppet states to push their agenda. their friendship is not on equal terms even with their cousin britain so stop fooling your self and trying fool us
