The achievement of India's MOM is priceless hence don't try to put a material value on the same to belittle the great achievement. If at all compare apple with apples.

STOP THIS CHEAP PROJECTION!!
by varghese on Sep 24, 2014 07:21 PM  | Hide replies

WHY ARE WE MAKING FUN OF OUR OWN SUCCESS...IS INDIA AND INDIANS CHEAP?

WHY ARE WE PROJECTING THE NATION AS A CHEAP NATION...

NO NATION OR NATIONALITY MAKES FUN OUT OF ITS NATIONAL PRIDE.IN FACT THEY KEEP SECRET ABOUT THE ACTUAL COSTS INCURRED..

ISRO OR ANY PUBLIC SECTORS IN INDIA ARE SUPPOSED TO MAKE MASSIVE PROFITS FOR MAJORITY OF INDIANS HAVE NO FOOD OR SHELTER..

IF RELIANCE OR BIRLAS OR GE WOULD HAVE MADE THIS AT PROJECT THEY WOULD NEVER HAVE MADE SUCH A DECLARATION AS IT WOULD HIT THE OPERATING EFFICIENCY AND THE FUTURE PROFITS OF THE COMPANY..

WAKE UP JOURNALISTS WAKE UP TO SENSIBLE REPORTING..

Very well said. What the sycophantic journalism has missed out on is the fact that all the expenditures listed (apart from the scam, if they think the Mangalyaan is a scam too!) are private ventures and have nothing to do with bleeding the economy which all governmental projects do. They promise progress in the name of draining the exchequer. All public sector ventures are a colossal losses. The question here is what has the multi million dollar project to offer other that vanity, and what has it in store for the common man. Exuding conceit with public money is akin to the proverbial crow exhibiting its purloined peacock feather to the peacock. The Mangalyaan project of 450 crores is only the tip of the iceberg. One needs to calculate how many staff on the payroll of ISRO will be taking with them in superannuation benefits for the rest of their lives for having worked on this project. I am not a pessimist, nor am I a cynic. I would much rather take the side of practicality as opposed to the hype of accomplishment, progress and innovation. The Mangalyaan project is far from it.

It is only through growth in science and technology that developing nations have become developed nations.

The difference between developed and developing nations lies in science and technology.

The purpose of mars mission is to foster a culture of science and technology in India. Only through such a culture can India become a developed nation like Japan and the western nations.

Japan is a much poorer nation than India in terms of natural resources, but have emerged as a much superior nation economically speaking because of its culture of science and technology.

The mars project is based on a flimsy budget of 83 million dollars. It provides livelihood to many scientists and engineers who otherwise would be serving foreign nations and benefitting them.

India spends a fortune on the education of scientists and engineers only to have them leave India due to lack of opportunities here. Other nations then benefit from India's investment in education.

All those who oppose Mangalyaan on basis of cost, then
should also oppose all higher education in India which is also costly and costs crores of rupees.

Illiteracy is much cheaper.

What about sending all these corrupt politicians to Mars in a MOM with sufficient food and drinks to last the journey period never to come back so that they can earmark their fiefdom there and fight elections?
