Choosing a Indian origin man as envoy to India is bad both ways!
by ajai cs on Sep 19, 2014 12:24 PM  | Hide replies

Wrong choice. Nothing personal about Richard Verma. We are hearing the name first time. So it is not about him.

A person of Indian origin , when handling anything related to India will be forced to prove again and again to himself and to everyone that his loyalty is with United States! He will end up becoming more loyal than the king - and be of real harm to India.

On the other side, Indian's too will look at him through the eyes of treason (for no real reason!). But we Indians always feel NRIs, irrespective of their citizenship- are Indians and is expected to sing Jana Gana Mana! And when we see a person "whom we believe Indian" carrying the national flag of another country, we map him mentally in the list of traitors! Of course we Indians view traitors with suspicion.

So what is the end result

1) A US Ambassador to India who is viewed with suspicion by Indians

2) A US Ambassador who will be forced to continually prove his loyalties to US !

Both ways it is a bad choice from a Indo -US relationship point of view

LIKE BOBBY JINDAL AND MANY OTHER INDIAN AMERICANS RICHARD VERMA HAD TO SACRIFICE HIS OWN ANCESTORAL RELIGION AT THE ALTAR OF DEVOURING CHRISTIANITY AND AMERICAN POLICIES, TO BE THE GREAT SERVANT OF AMERICA !

WHETHER WE SHOULD CALL MR. VERMA A TRAITOR OF HIS FAMILY, RELIGION AND FORE FATHERS OR A SALEABLE CHRISTIAN AMERICAN !

THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ANYTHING GREAT ABOUT VERMA. IT IS JUST A CLEVER AMERICAN MOVE TO SERVICE ITS OWN INTERESTS !

Religion is his personal choice. But essentially he is an Indian.Values of all religion are the same and if he wants to follow the teachings of the religion of his choice why should anyone grudge him that.

Religious identity is fast losing whatever little relevance it had in the US.

But this can never happen for raxcial identities.

And, from that perspective, Mr. Verma and other PIOs will always remain outside the core American identity.

Such a debilitating distinction will go only after the PIOs slowly merge raxcially with white Americans over several generations.

Having NRIs as envoy is nothing to gloat about. They are more inclined towards their countries of adoption than to India. It is better to have an American as envoy as most of these NRIs are "moore loyal than the king"types. !!!

We are really proud that these persons of Indian origin hold key positions in US Govt with their remarkable calibre and service. We also should appreciate US's openness to appoint persons of other nations in Key administrative posts All the best to Mr Verma in his new assignment and he should bring stability in Indo US relations

is this another convert like bobby jindal? what is indian about this guy except his color? just using color is racism. you don't say having black obama is a great thing for africans. This convert is american in all sense and our relationship with him is purely political business.
