Unreasonable
by Vik on Jun 06, 2014 04:02 PM  | Hide replies

Wondered if it had something to do with the prosperity of the populace - Gujarat, Maharastra , Tamilnadu & the likes showing lesser number of such crimes. But if that were true then Delhi should not have been where it is.

I am not sure Prakash. From what I am seeing, Maharastra is appearing only mildly red. The deeper red ends at Ratlam, Dhar, Khargone, Khandwa ( MP ). Coming to the west & south of that territory it looks only mildly red. But then again, I am just going by the map and just trying to make some logic of it.

The map shows the number of rapes per million population. That does'nt mean if the color of your state is on the lighter side, it's safe. A state like Goa can have a high rate because of it's population being low.

Prakash so you mean that a lighter map is wow for you but you are forgetting that your state is not rape free. Worry about that man and not the color.

Yes Sunshine, I agree with you and hence my comment to your's at the top. A ratio with the population of the state will put it in proper perspective.

rape cas observation
by ajay goel on Jun 03, 2014 09:51 AM

It was observed that rape cases are in population of illiterate women in our country. So government should give special attention in village areas & try to literate them & provide toilet facilities in their home to avoid that cases

This stats based on number of cases registered in police stations. In the states like UP, Bihar, WB most of the time cases were not been registered. That is the reality.

Modi should provide more protection to women
by Bharat Soni on Jun 03, 2014 01:09 AM  | Hide replies

Instead of using the police for doing surveillance on women of his interest, Modi should ask those policemen to prevent rapes across the country.

It is moral duty of all Indians to provide protection to women in need. Women should neither allow themselves to be put in vulnerable position nor they should take undue advantage of their position ,money and other things like their appearance for enchanting men to take advantage. Our attitudes towards women should be such of respect and esteem which can come thru proper upbringing and education values etc.

rape cases
by Ram Prasad on Jun 02, 2014 07:49 PM

most of the rape cases have not been reported in Karnataka for various reasons ,like hushing up the victim or threatening the family, voluntarily not reporting because of infamy, refusal to register case, OR involvement of some VIP or policeman's sons

Stastistics is like bikini
by Vivek Dev on Jun 02, 2014 06:14 AM

Statistics is said to be like bikini. It hides more than it reveals. There should also be survey on migrant rapes, migrants from which states are most involved in this. States like Maha which see lot of migration are faced with the problem of migrant rapists.
