India needs to free Tibet
by vilas apte on Mar 18, 2014 06:06 PM  | Hide replies

Patroitic Indians here is a chance for you all to vote for and install Modi as PM, so that under his brave leadership our army can take back the land captured by China in the 1962 war, and also to proceed and take back Tibet. India needs a dynamic leader who comes from a state that has contributed the minimum recruitment towards our defence forces.

You are absolutely right Mr Apte, there is no battalion called Gujarat Regiment today, nor did one exist during British rule. The knicker wallahs are expecting Rambo to lead India to a victory over China.

NEHRU BASHING HAS BECOME A FASHION NOW A DAYS AMONG EDUCATED INDI
by Kabeer on Mar 18, 2014 05:41 PM  | Hide replies

This is an old report; and none of those observations are not valid now. It is only for academic and historic interests.

However, the most important point is which are those Western capitalist forces released this at this juncture of Indian elections that too to protect their identity they have released from Australia.

One must understand that Nehru was never interested in a war with China but he was pushed into it by the Lohia likes constantly pressuring him to take on the Chinese.

It is the same Lohia who wanted Nehru's scalp in the parliament.

Ram Manohal Lohia was one of the pests Independent India has suffered bitterly.

Lohia's antipathy towards Nehru is well known; he tested Nehru's patience unfairly.

He even gone to those levels calling him in Parliament by saying "Everybody thinks Nehru comes from Aristocracy which is not a fact; I know for a fact that some of his ancestors were Chaprasis in the court of the king of Kashmir"

Nehru humbly replied "that is what I have saying all these years! I am the servant of the poorest of the poor of India, but you never listened"

Dont know if what you are saying is true. Dont even know if the report by Maxwell is true. But, the moot point is that India lost badly to China and that can be possible only if the planning was not ok. In India the army is under civilian control. So the blame for the debacle purely rests on the Political leadership. Here Nehru. Now, One can always say that Nehru was pressurised by one or the other. But, Nehru surely had a stature of his own (or so one is made to believe in India now) and such a leadership cannot be swayed by internal pressure. The leadership is no leadership at all if they start acceding to all kinds of pressures. They must have the strength to do what is good for the nation.

Of course, the civilian leadership has to accept responsibility and Nehru did to the extent he should.

But sometimes it is a direct responsibility having a direct understanding of operations etc.,. and sometimes a responsibility because you're the head; here it is the latter.

But here what many do not accept here and treat my saying as heresy from a patriotic perspective, is that some of the territories that India has under it do not historically belong to India; they were somewhat ungoverned and for cultural reasons may actually be independent or say Chinese.

Indian territory today as we know of was not the same historically what we know as India.

India took some territories as it can after the British left; some the British wanted India to monitor.

For example, Aksai Chin of Kashmir. It was a no man's land.

India took control of it; but when Chinese found out that technically, it is a contiguous part of them they occupied. The finger like piece of barren land has projected into the Chinese territory.

So many areas are like that way.

Nehru was wise which many are not; firstly Nehru was a student of history and he knew aggression rarely work in the long term. Nehru wanted peace with China to that extent he openly stated that the century belongs to India and China which is true even today.

Nehru said "then we will throw them out" while walking towards an aircraft to leave for a different nation when a journalist kept on harping. It wasn't a formal strctured

Nehru was truly a horrible leader to force a debacle for India armed forces. No foresight, only power hungry politician and loved good life style like Jinnah. Even todays congress leadership looks horrible, can sell the interest of the country for peanuts shamefully.

Nothing new.Actually a straightforward statesman Nehru lacking in manipulative political acumen of an Indra was done in by his ignorant right wing hostile Congress leaders pitching for a fight with the chinese.Where Nehru fell short was in not fully understanding the need for a negotiated settlement with China of the border differences of an Imperial India drawn by the British. It should not be forgotten that even during sixties we had our share of ignorant patriotic press which further aggravated things.

His "not understanding the need for a negotiated settlement" has costed India dearly. Who forced him not to is not an issue. A leader is expected to take his own decisions.

it is a useless subject to discuss today, as we gain nothing on this. what we have to do to overcome, we should work on that.
No leader is perfect. they did what was best for that time.

If Nehru had declared his intentions....
by Ramaswamy Sundararajan on Mar 18, 2014 04:45 PM

Here comes the truth of how Nehru had brought upon us the Chinese attack and the demeaning defeat. This article also exposes how the Congress Govt had hidden the fact from the public for the last so many years.Congress's history of deceit had started even as early as 1962.And it had continued till today. It will continue if we do not get rid of them in the coming elections.

Tibet lost freedom due to this guy
by niyama on Mar 18, 2014 04:43 PM

If this fellow acted as per suggestion of Sardar Patel and strengthened Maratha regiment located in Tibet main land then free Tibet would have been a permanent buffer between India and China. Pakistan would have been completely isolated from China.

This fellow acted as per his self interest not as per interest of country. He wanted laurels from international bodies. Might have even aspired for nobel prize. Good that he didn't get it.
