All the earnings of Railways goes into its employees pockets, with people earning lakhs per month. If only half of this was utilized for safety, many a precious lives could have been saved. The previous govts have played a great role in incessantly increasing the pay of all the govt employees in the name of pay commissions for the vote bank and brought in a big gap between govt employees and unemployed and pvt employees. At least this govt should look into the incessant loot of the funds by its employees, along with all the corruption going on Rlys, and utilize the funds for the safety and benefits of the passengers.

People are ready to pocket money if people are ready to pay ... so the public is equally responsible, or for that matter, primarily responsible. Not only for this, but every other department that has become a cesspool for bribery.

TRAIN JOURNEY MIGHT BE LAST JOURNEY
by sreeinternet on Jun 25, 2014 08:34 AM  | Hide replies

Now Train Journey became ones last journey due to the pathetic maintenance of railway staff. I noticed railway staff on track specially in the category of section engineers and there subordinates are least bothered about there job and enjoy monthly salary. they hardly work 1-2 days on field and enjoy rest of the week days and lift full monthly salary. due to such attitude, dedication, lack of contribution of the employee commom man life become high risk..in india now its become quite common for railways to have an accident frequently. this is only becz staff negligence nothing else.

I think the policy should be to immediately dismiss the whole group for negligence of duty and causing culpable homicide of unsuspecting passengers of the train. Then only people will come to senses.

While I agree that lethargy, inefficiency and indifference are inherent in every government department since they know that they cannot be touched with a ten foot barge-pole, there is no substance in putting the onus squarely on the employees alone! All the previous railway ministers were reluctant to increase the railway fares commensurate with the inflation for their cheap popularity! End result: The railways lacked funds for development and maintenance and leaky, rusted rolling stocks, Un-manned level crossings, bridges crying hoarse for repairs etc were the rules rather than exception! Now that the new minister has increased the fares astronomically, can we expect a safe and comfortable journey in future at least to salvage their sinking image in the present scenario? Dolling out a few lakhs to the bereaved family is little consolation!
