We must accept bitter medicine.

If that doesn't work, raise another 20%, and so on until trains become safe.

Why only 20% ? You are trying to belittle Modi? Modi always starts with 50%.

by ojama on Jun 25, 2014 10:30 AM  | Hide replies

Saftey and Security on Rails is of paramount importance and no compromise on that can be made.
The recently Rail fares were hiked keeping in mind the poor saftey records of Railways.

What happened to the safety cess imposed by NDA Government in 2000 ? Did they result in improved safety for passengers ? We were only witness to accidents increasing manifold in the years between 2000 and 2004 ?

Lalu Raj back in Bihar?
by P Dutta on Jun 25, 2014 09:30 AM

With Nitish inviting Lalu and his party to help him/his party survive in Bihar, the grand old days of lawlessness including attacks on trains, kidnappings for ransom etc appear to be returning slowly and steadily. Bihar will soon become another UP with two prominent yadavas dominating state politics.

Very sad.Whether it is a technical snag or Mao activity,in both the cases there is a lacuna. No stone should be unturned to ensure railway safety. Our officials need to be maximum vigilant & active in performing their sacrosanct duty.
