Renewable hydrocarbon
by benny george on Jun 24, 2014 12:56 PM

The Government has to think of utilising the large tracks of waste land available for producing renewable hydrocarbon. Why dont we can think of a Renewable Hydrocarbon Board in the line of Rubber Board, which is a huge success in increasing the production of natural rubber in India. In fact natural rubber itself is a renewable hydrocarbon!

unfairly burdening the poor
by arun sen on Jun 24, 2014 12:35 PM

Must the rail fare need to be raised for the health and wellbeing of railways so be it.But rise is steep. It could have been done in phases over a perion of couple of years or so. But poor management of resources, fraudulent activities and poor work culture must be stopped. Else no amount of fare rise will help it and it will remain a ramshackled railway.

Sir, nobody told AAP to go away, they went on their own. They could have stayed on for 5 years with Congress similarly as congress was doing.

BJP should use the same axe on corporates too
by chari ranjan on Jun 24, 2014 11:46 AM  | Hide replies

Can Govt do the same to Corporates also, to whom they have allowed subsidies and tax reduction ? Instead of raising the fares for poor man and saying that the govt is working for poor man, why not remove the subsidies and tax reduction enjoyed by corporates and bring the black money back and pump into railways and other weak areas. Simple efficient way of working and removing corruption itself will go a big way in streamlining many things. Why can't the govt implement hotlines to report on corruption and take immediate action, few immediate actins taken will instill the fear and atleast reduce if not eradicate corruption. Also its ironical that BJP is saying its only one month give us 5 yrs, while the same BJP was questioning AAP in delhi to implement their manifesto within 2 days.
Besides BJP should declare their funds, and also put actin into words on the power crisis in delhi. Piyush goyal spoke big words of giving power in 2 days and nothing happened. the frustration with people is due to words not being translated into actions by BJP.
Also people of India need to look within and not go overboard with their unending desires and, contentment is not there at all. even if we don't get what we want we should not engage in corruption, stay within our needs should be the mantra.

you are right. We would have preferred a more aggressive action against corruption.

We said dear, any way the government is elected for 5years, let them rule for the tenure. But we people should stop them from all wrong doings and oppose strongly to anti people decisions. All the hope given has been lost in 30 days.

"Good of the poor"!
by Bwinde Kang on Jun 24, 2014 11:38 AM

In a refreshingly candid interview by the young minster, one may even grant him that 'strict economic decisions have to be made for the good of the poor in the long run'. However, such decisions like IRs recent fare-hike primarily emanate from protecting their own turfs [IRs, Air India, PSUs etc.] which are ill-managed. Three eastern zones of IRs spend more than Rs 2 as expense on each Re earning/revenue, while some western/northern ones manage to earn 1 Re with only 35-45 pe as expense. AI continues to maintain staff like GMs and AOs at more than 40 stations abroad with no/limited service to such destinations. Please take 'strict' decisions on running profitably the service enterprises you manage ....... It will automatically result in 'good of the poor' sooner that you can believe!

First they said it is UPA who raised the fares. Today they say it is best thing to be done, doesn't that mean UPA was doing good?
