There is a huge gap between Demand and Supply for Onion and Potato. It will be very acute during October & November & it is a phenomena of every year. Only solution is importing immediately without further delay. Other measures are useless. If Govt. declares for importing, the hoarders will automatically release their hoarded items. Several meetings of Modi will be futile because it is purely based on Demand & Supply. It is a seasonal crisis so it cannot be solved by politics.

If Govt has will, the rise in price of Onion and Potato can be effectively controlled. If there would have been heavy rain, reason for price rise in vegetables would have been, blame would have been "destroyed in rain", but now it is attributed to "no rain". There is no reason for the sudden rise in the price since there is enough stock of Onion/Potato, but not being released in market.
An average urban Indian family spends far less portion of their spending on Food items compared to housing cost, education, traveling , mobiles and entertainment. Onion & Potatoes are hardly any amount compared to other items.
Why north indians are so dependent on onion and potatoes? these are their weaknesses. learn from Jains, they are least bothered about Onion or Potato! no worries for them because they do not eat any of these vegs. It's so funny that two mere vegetables are making you people crazy...hahahahaha...
The fun & the irony is Gujarat is the state which produces more milk in the country but at the same it is the place where milk is costlier than any other state.

first u r wrong ..Gujarat ranks fifith in milk production in idnai ..in fact till last year it was sixth and punjab fifth ..but this year gujarat is fifth and punjab sisth ..up ranks first andhara second ....
