In India, three main reasons for poverty:

In India, three main reasons for poverty:
1.      Slavery - In all developed countries almost all citizens are well paid irrespective of their jobs whether they work in the fields or driving or cleaning public place or cutting hair (barber) etc.,
But in India some people are discriminating people based on their jobs or caste and paying very less for their work. Due to many people become poor.
In India, main reason for poverty is due to under-payment system. First society should pay proper salary to poor for their work. Many people discriminate some people based on their caste or type of work which they are doing and pay very less to them. If we started paying them good amount of salary, then they can survive from their own income.
Poverty due to slavery must be stopped by implementing strict labour law like in developed countries like USA. Recent example is arrest of Indian diplomat (Devyani). Similar law must be needed in India so that poverty could be reduced some extent.

2. Laziness-Another main reason for poverty is mainly due to attitude of person. If one person is not interested to do any work, then he and his entire family will become poor. These kinds of people spoil not only their life but also their children’s life by simply breeding like anything
3. Wasting money in useless and illegal ways (drinking, gambling and for other illegal activities)- it is difficult solve unless the person has to change.

If India wants to become developed country, we have to increase number of working class people NOT begging class. EVERYONE MUST WORK WELL AND PAID WELL IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR JOBS AND SPEND AND EAT FROM THEIR OWN EARNED MONEY.
We can eliminate poverty completely from India if we follow the following proverb \"Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.\"
In addition, any bill banning child (teenage) marriage and controlling population will be very useful. Because population and poverty are inter-related to each other.

YES i agree to ur answer, but in additin i would like to say most of the ver poor family send their chidren to BMC schools. These schools do not good education hence children coming out are very poor in their basic abilities, what they will do when they r moving to higher schools? we need to improve the education in BMC SCHOOLS.
We need to educate the parents of the poor children so that they can give better education to then for tomorrow. Slum areas need to be taken care for all these.

'Health, food and sanitation have improved. Poverty has reduced. We could have done better in education and nutrition.

Lot needs to be done in the area of rural sanitation and hygiene front. Just visit our villages and slums in urban areas. All your claims will belied.

One cannot imagine how our countrymen live there. Our rural hinterlands are littered with poly bags waste...our railway track are littered with plastic waste... who cares....
Merely sitting in AC rooms in Delhi or for that matter in a state capital will not address the problems, Madam.

please come out of your dens and work for the common man living in our villages and urban slums.

Yes, drastically needed, but biggest need is to control increase in population, if we want rapid growth. Somehow all political parties are afraid of even to talk on this issue.

Learn to write proper English first, then post something criticizing Americans. That lady was exploiting a fellow Indian worker.
