Finally somebody spoke right. True Indians must defend his statement beyond ideologies and party positions.

Creamy layer is eating up all the fruits of reservation. Economy based reservation is the only way to uplift poor.

End divide & rule policy
by pdpradeep on Feb 06, 2014 12:57 PM

It is high time for INC / BJP & other regional parties to end divide & rule policy. If one start pleasing such groups in name of minority / majority / caste etc. India will land up in 2nd partition in the name of religion.

POLITICAL STRATEGY......CLEVER MOVE BY CONGRESS
by syed wasay on Feb 06, 2014 12:53 PM

I think it's nothing less than a political move to divert from main issues going in the minds of people of India,I suggest Congress Party should focus to be united with in the selfs rather than raising Controvercial larger, bigger, issues, because it's very diffult for them to face the Electorates in 2014,NCP,NC,TMC,SP,likely to desert congress.

I agree to Dwivedi's Veiw abt Quotas. We all know such quotas are utilised by SC or any one entitled but actually those people are High Income Grouped people. So Poor in that section of people are kept away from that Quotas, be it lack of Knowledge or intentionally.
So diverting from cast based Quota to Income Based Quota system is much more Satisfying and justified approach.

FACING EACH OTHER IS NOT ALWAYS CONFRONTATION; IT IS A TANGO TOO!
by Kabeer on Feb 06, 2014 12:39 PM  | Hide replies

Thu author seems to be a novice in political journalism.

In the first place, Dwivedi is neither a loose cannon nor an idiot for shooting his mouth off.

Rahul and Dwivedi might be appearing face to face but that does not mean a confrontation but a Tango where both of them complementing each other.

Sonia's rebuttal is an orchestrated one.

In the first place, why Dwivedi said what he had said;

Why this topic of reservations?

He could have talked on any other subject; but didn't.

Modi's vote bank is upper caste urban youth.

Rahul wants to poach on Modi's vote bank.

Obviously, this segment is hurt by reservations.

When Dwivedi said what he had said, is an indication that when Rahul comes to power, he might very well consider positively Dwivedi's statement.

Dwivedi on Rahuls behalf is driving a point.

Now, what about SOnias rebuttal?

It is to protect the existing Dalit vote bank and that statement is an assurance.

For the urban upper caste youth, Dwivedi's statement is a hope later if not sooner; so the bench sitters may very well consider for voting to Rahul.

Now read Dwivedi's statement with an earlier one, where in he had said that in 2009 the Congress should not have formed the Govt but would have sat in the opposition.

Why?

It is to establish that Rahul would not have been interested in COngress forming the Govt only to face the music of corruption.

This is significant because in 2009 Congress got more seats than in 2004. So anticorruption stance is issue

Reservation
by arungopal agarwal on Feb 06, 2014 12:09 PM

It is vote bank now as new new castes are added in all classes instead of deleting them, what a prejudiced secular democracy, interestingly needy and deprived are still struggling, whereas creamy layer of reserved quota is snatching all benefits. Who will take correction, when all political parties are playing politics for caste based system i.e. too without considering the income criteria level of Below Poverty Line or above. We are still living in Aurangzeb era where Hindus were denied few basic rights.
