Congress thinks it will get fringe upper caste vote by such statements.and also other votes by denials. Just like it will get jehadi votes by questioning batla thru dooggy...and then saner votes by. Denouncing him...

Has not reservation failed greater numbers of backward classes?
by Ahi Sen on Feb 06, 2014 11:33 PM  | Hide replies

The well intended reservation policy has not succeeded in bringing up the backward class people at par with the upper castes in this country. The policy requires to be reviewed especially when posts in Government sector has been drastically reduced. The proposal of Mr. Dwiwedi should start meaningful discussion to findout real solution of the problem.

You are right, the reservation policy has only helped in the rick category people in the SC/ST/OBC. The creamy layer limit is now Rs 6 lakhs. Just imagine, with Rs 50,000/- per month income, these people can give any thing to their children and also claim the reservation benefits. Contrast this with very low income SC/ST/OBC, say Rs 10,000/-, these people has no money to educate their children and cannot claim the reservation benfits because their children is not educated. The government should set up a committe as to find out who has been benefited by the reservation policy- whether rick people of backward class or poor people of back ward class. Examples are plenty: Mayawati, MSY, Lallo etc

Congress divided the country on basis of religion and caste. At last some congressmen seem to have realized their mistakes so speaking what is needed. India does not need to identify its people by castes/religions as it only divides the society. There should not be any reservations, no minorities, no majorities....

Congress Old Guard........

Congress is a party of contradictions only. A good opinion at last, from a wrong person at wrong time; nothing could be more unfortunate for a stumbling party under the control of an incapable novice. Congress is in no position to correct its past mistakes.

It is unfortunate that Congress is under the regime of Foreigner but not Indian. Such unpatriotic personalities holding the regime only dynasty oriented policies of congress can not understand the ground realities. Such personalities are struggling only for their power but serving no national interest.Under such circumstances castism and pseudo secularism flourishes. What a shame

We appreciate J.D's view of concentration only on economic criteria rather than caste criteria is a good suggestion, in view of some change is required now at least, let poor merit persons be recognised at least now.We do not agree with anita katyal saying J.D's remarks as controversy.
