Hypocrisy from the Govt and Citizens
by J P on Feb 02, 2014 11:27 PM  | Hide replies

If a person from North East is neither made to feel like a citizen of India if they step out of the North East nor does the govt help in anyway to make progress in those states, what right do we as citizens of India have to oppose them asking for a separate state? It's a total farce to show an Independent India on the world map when we discriminate against those who hail from the North East.
It's a pity, a young life was lost earlier this week and women are regularly molested due to this discrimination

6pmc8I think it is a conspiracy to foment trouble in the North-East. the pattern is clear. First there is firing on Arunachal Assam border in which 10 people are killed followed quickly by two incidents in Delhi. The intent is obvious.

The plight of Indian citizens from the North East has not changed since India gained Independence. You might realize how one feels if you are treated like an outsider in your own country.

Before giving Independence to India, British recommended separate states for BC/SC/ST/FC/Muslim/Sikh/Christian/Parsi/Jain to prevent Civil War in India. Google "Communal Award".

there is no denying that India has nations who would want to see it disappear, especially for religious reasons. the presence of out of state actors in spreading a culture of rape and violence cannot be ruled out. The presence of jihadic interests in Bollywood has long been established, and Bollywood turns out trash movies glorifying rape and violence.

Yes it is time to shift the capital out of Delhi
by Miten Shah on Feb 02, 2014 10:36 PM  | Hide replies

The current anarchy in Delhi has brought people around the country to seriously question do we need to have the National Capital in Delhi any longer? And interestingly two of our founding fathers namely Dr Babasaheb Amdedkar and Sardar Patel both thought on the same lines way back in 1948.

Dr Babasaheb Amdedkar in his book 'Thoughts of Linguistic States' stated his thoughts and was not in favor of continuing the capital of India at Delhi. His thoughts were that after the partition of India, the westward and eastward boundaries have moved the center of India southwards and He all the time had rooted for Hyderabad, and also citing that the Britishers moved India’s capital from Calcutta to Delhi in 1911, We should not carry the same colonial legacy, and also post Delhi is vulnerable and also geographically very far from South, East and Western India. He firmly believed that Hyderabad fitted the requirements and it still now, incidentally Hyderabad also has the Rashtrapati Nilayam, or the second residence of president of India. It can be a Union territory and be the Capital of India and also of Telanghana and Andhra, 3 birds in one stone.

Interestingly another of our founding fathers Sardar Patel wanted Nagpur to be the Capital of India, and reason being its the center of India which also has the zero mile, and also is the most centrally located city in India, this is the most convenient and centermost city from anywhere in India. Person from the North, South, East, West every one has to travels the same to reach Nagpur, which can permanently take away the complaint of a Capital being in some remote corner of India, and yes and it’s the also officially the center of India. Nagpur was also the capital of Madhya Bharat and is the second capital of Maharashtra, it too can be readily made in a Union Territory and would be situated ideally in the heart of India would make it better to listen to the heartbeat of the real India.

Delhi can be the capital Of Hariyana and can continue its daily dose of anarchic waves, rest of India wishes to move on and move out of Delhi for sure. Change of location and change of culture will help for sure, lets change a capital every 100 years, Calcutta and Delhi had their reign, So now time to move the Capital of India out of Delhi and to Nagpur/Hyderabad.

Delhi has now to also reconstruct the Lutyens' Bungalows or the official residences as they are old, and would cost some 6000 crores. Also the Parliament and North. South blocks reconstructed, all are going to cost 11,000 crores, why not move the capital to Nagpur or Hyderabad. That would be a union territory as National capital should never be a state on its own, and everybody in India agrees on that. As the daily dramas in Delhi, and Delhi going anarchic and going the Calcutta way, its time to listen to Dr Ambedkars and Sardar Patels suggestions and thoughts of moving the Capital to either Hyderabad or Nagpur.

India needs a brand new modern capital in a centrally located virgin territory. A city not burdened with colonial or imperial legacy, most of which from Delhi Sultanate to Mughals were foreigners, anyways.

This is shame on India and specifically on Delhi.
by PARMOD KUMAR on Feb 02, 2014 10:17 PM

How come we as Indian have such an attitude for our fellow brothers and sisters form North East of from any other part of the country. This is the country for all of us. We should work together in peace and harmony and help others, specifically people from North East or other parts. Police should be more strict and should take harsh and immediate actions against the people who found guilty in these cases. Wake up India Wake Up.

Aliens in own land!
by Bwinde Kang on Feb 02, 2014 05:58 PM

It is high time polity and police involve the community-leaders of rural-Delhi [especially in villages like Khirki, Munirka, Mubarkpur etc where there is large concentration of tenants from other states/countries] to sensitize their people about different cultures and need to accept them. It is futile to deny that these people [steeped as they are in caste-syndrome] show avowed racial prejudice against those from south, north-east states and African countries. If the people from other states are not welcome in the capital of India, time is not far when they start feeling like aliens in their own country…..the consequences of such situations can indeed be grave!
