Kashmir is destined to be in this dangerous and tragic state as long as the people don't realise they are Indians, that their roots are in this land, not Saudi Arabia. As long as they don't bring back the minority Pandits to Kashmir, modernise and integrate with the rest of India, they will lose out on a chance to lead a normal life.

Well said sir, but the truth is that we tend to forget these real life heroes very soon and only remember the reel life ones. We must have a single monument in every major town, where at least the names of these heroes be inscribed. Our independence day functions should be held at these monuments to remind us of the people who sacrificed their lives to ensure that we continue to live in a free country. School children should be encouraged to visit these monuments regularly so that they know who the real heroes are so that they don't just grow up worshipping the film stars. It wouldn't take much, just a few square metres of land and few lakh for each such monument.
