Unlike in USA, our beauty pageants don't reflect India's diversity

India's diversity

Miss India is the modern invasion corridor for foreign people to rule over India. I read the contestants had to bleach their skin compulsory with Retin A and other chemicals, you can google Dr. Jamuna Pai. As an excuse they say they don't look for a Ms. India, but a Ms. world/universe. Easy way to convince Indians they were not beautiful enough, and to promote Albino looks as Ms. India. I say hang all culprits/finish off Albinos in India.

most of the girls who are dark need to only groom themselves to look appealing... but unfortunately sine fairness is an accepted criteria to beauty, the dark ones will lose self confidence and just fail to take care of themselves

Racist remarks have flooded Twitter after a contestant of Indian descent was crowned Miss America 2014.

Users commented on 24-year-old Nina Davuluri’s heritage and race.

One of the users on the micro-blogging site said that one has to be 'American' to be crowned the coveted title, CNN reported.

Fox News and Commentary host, Todd Starnes, posted that the liberal Miss America judges won't admit that Miss Kansas lost for “actually representing American values.”

Another user commented on Davuluri’s Indian heritage -- saying Obama would be happy as the newly crowned Miss America was a Muslim.

Davuluri, who is the first ever Indian descent winner, wooed her judges with a Bollywood fusion dance number in the talent round, to have the coveted tiara placed on her head.

Really? I have only seen Priyanka, Lara, Kajol etc being presented in fair avatar. Perhaps they are applying layers of make up or are digitally airbrushed by the cinematographers.

Dusky, wheatish or dark, no chance for Indian beauties
by palanki narayana on Sep 18, 2013 04:38 PM

When the world's beauties assembled in India for the Miss World contest, reporters thronged to interview the white skinned damsels, leaving their darker sisters furious. Indians can never be persuaded to see beauty in dark skin. Read the matrimonial advertisements or publicity for fairness creams.
