Actually the report is incorrect as at least 90% of Indian are slaves due to exploitation by our Judiciary,politicians,government officers and opportunistic people.
India has the most slavery in the world because of the caste system, which pervades all aspects of Indians existence. Indians can not stop looking outside the prism of caste even when they move to a foreign country because they are so used to exploiting the caste system for their personal, unfair gain/advantage. This is especially true for the people belonging to the castes who have people in senior positions in Indian government, police, judiciary and bureaucracy. The caste system makes Indians insenitive towards the slavery.

In addition, picking up examples of other countries and people enslaving native Americans or Australian Aborogines hundreds of years ago, or doing racism 50 years ago is meaningless, since we are talking about the slavery in India in PRESENT times and are not doing a historical analysis of other countries in their distant past. Caste discrimination exists in India now and today, and there are no signs of it going away in the future. Most people pointing fingers at foreign countries are actually supporting the caste system and slavery in India.

Now caste is not a point in urban areas. In other places also its effect is less. Inter caste marriages are on the increase. The main reason for continuation of caste system is caste based reservation, though its benefits are being taken by the creamy layer - whose level goes on being increased by the govt just before elections - of the castes availing this benefit
yes, slavery is state of mind, it has nothing to do with the money you have or how much educated you are.
We Indians have slavery genetically hardwired into our DNA. Look at Manmohan Singh other congress leaders, educated and wealthy but slaves to the core.
Indians are the only group of people who take pride in their slavery.
The way we admire and glorify British and Muslim invaders. Survay though understates the real population of slaves in India. More then one third population is gulaam. These are the Indians devoid of any self respect.
you are right, if I was a sant preaching, i will go out to serve our fellow humans instead of preaching sitting on a comfortable chair and guillible ladies applausing. if i was a public servant, i will remind myself and work for the lesser privileged and uplift as my own children.
