Well prepared....
by SR Hari on Oct 12, 2013 05:16 PM  | Hide replies

Thanks to the past experiences and the wherewithal we have, the authorities are preparing themselves before the eventuality. Best wishes to them for prompt relief action and praying that the damage to people, cattle, infrastructure would be minimum.

Will be nice if people restrain from mocking at others like someone said "Modi will construct toilets". This is not the time to joke around. Nation is facing a tough natural disaster and let us all see how we can help the needy. Even keeping quiet and not making such mockery is a big help.

I second your sentiment. It can get serious & the preparations & awareness will hopefully minimize the damages & help get relief operations begin at the earliest possible chance. In 1999, the power outage had lasted for 5 days . Although its being reported that this will not last beyond 2 days, stocking of food & candles will help.

It is highly immature to comment anything political at this juncture. A national disaster has to be faced primarily by the inhabitants of the Odisha & AP. We support the Government's fast rescue operation by proper deployment of forces.

Agree with that & hopefully the journalists reporting from such areas will also move to enclosed shelters. It'd not be a wise decision to try and report from amidst the cyclones. Had seen cows & ships being tossed up by the 99 cyclone.

Yes ,we are fortunately well prepared with evacuations , and preparedness for after effects like shelter and relief materials .
It is great to see India being ready better than 1999 disaster . Hopefully the losses will be less and people get back to their lives and move on

Fire Missile
by ojama on Oct 12, 2013 04:12 PM  | Hide replies

The Authorities should treat this incoming cyclone as an destructive weapon and shoot it down above the sea by firing a missile from a navy ship.

Pre-emptive measures
by Vik on Oct 12, 2013 04:12 PM

It's never possible to regulate nature or influence the balancing act that nature does periodically, but the preemptive measures taken by our forces in the form of evacuations & preparedness, the reporting done by print, digital & net media , the preparations & preemptive support extended by the administration , bureaucrats & local politicians is a positive change that could have saved so many lives in Uttarakhand as well. Hope these efforts save precious lives ,if not properties ( which seems impossible ) & changes how we prepare for such natural calamities in future.
