That lie is perpetuated by Congress. Actually Britishers left because they found in difficult to sustain so many colonies after being ravaged by World War 2.
They controlled India with Royal Indian Airforce, Royal Indian Navy, Royal Indian Army....but they had started a mutiny. Britishers were running out of army personnel.
Also, imperialism was getting hugely unpopular and democracy was being established everywhere.
That's the reason MANY nations got their freedom around that time....some of them didn't even try!!

- He bathed and slept without clothes, with young women...which includes his granddaughter.
- The messiah of non violence, never spoke against wars in general. He assisted the British as a volunteer in Boer War, in which British ran concentration camps.
- He laid seeds of Nepotism in India. He forced Subhash Chandra Bose to resign twice, since his "favorite" candidate did not win and his messed up "ethics" was against Bose's. He had no problem when Indians fought wars alongside British, but had problems when Bose talked about raising Army against British.
- When India gained Independence, Pradesh Congress Chiefs had to pick a Prime Minister. 12 out of 15 voted for Sardar. NO ONE voted for Nehru. Gandhi then put his diktat, introduced new rules that ensured Nehru became PM, sowing seeds of the grossest nepotism which is still plaguing India.
- His "experiments with truth", if conducted today, would ensure in an arrest. He may have been arrested for abuse against his niece and nephew's wife.
Can a mahatma forbid a wife to sleep with her husband and encourage them to lie down naked with him??????
He may have had "good intentions", but that does not make him a "mahatma".......thus the hatred. He was not admired by the West (those who admire him are misinformed), that's why he never got a Nobel Prize

He stole his flagship philosophy of non-violence from the Bible!

Truth is further can in the bible says non -violence . Moses said those who does not follow the rules be killed by throwing stones. Still you can see it is arab countires , israil. Gandhi is actually favoured MUZlims and he is not so intelligent to under stand the crookdness of British. He is good listner and follower See his ears bent, not courageous. About ladies today every BABA is having the same affair. Educational system is 100% done and is running as per the BRITISH instructions. Creating more labours than enterprising personalities. This system is teaching crook , run only for money. Create slaves . British were not able to see the bare body of gandhi and other side Neheru is troubling Mount batton wife two main causes i feel we got independence.

but the problem is there are a lot of intelligent people in India like th gentleman below and idiots like you and me are very less.That is why India is such a great country(for corruption).
Gandhi may have had a lot of good intentions, but to claim him "mahatma" is something that this generation, with access to internet can NEVER digest.
1. For someone who preached so much about "non violence", offering other cheek, etc, he had no problem when Indian soldiers took part in World War....he struck a deal with Britishers.
2. For someone who wanted to establish democracy....he himself had no respect for democracy. He forced Subhash Chandra Bose twice, simply because he disagreed with his idea that India should raise army to fight Britishers.
3. He bathed nude with young girls. He slept nude with young girls, which includes his granddaughter and grandson's wife. He believed that by putting yourself in such a position and not indulging in it gives "strength". Can a mahatma believe in such nonsense??
In today's world such a man would be arrested for abuse. He preached utter nonsense that couples should not have sex and sex should only be used to produce babies.
4. He set the ball rolling for India's disease of nepotism. When India gained Independence, all Pradesh Congress Chiefs were asked to elect Prime Minsters. 9 out of 12 chose Sardar Vallabhai Patel. The 3 others chose someone else....but no one voted for Nehru.
Gandhi did not like the result....so he made new ruled overnight and ensured that Nehru is elected.
Would a "mahatma" disregard popular opinion because he disagrees with it?
