by ASHEESH KUMAR on May 04, 2013 10:44 AM

This article makes no sense whatsoevet. What is the author trying to say ! We should forget Aksai Chin ? On what grounds can China lay it's claim ? Why did it build highway without informing India ? We all know what happened in Tibet.
If India has to protect it's intetest Aksai Chin needs to be reclaimed.Author has taken a very defeatist approach.

CHINESE INTENTION
by Ramen Maji on May 04, 2013 09:58 AM

CHINESE INTENTION IS VERY CLEAR THAT THEY WANT TO COUNTER INDIA FROM ALL SIDE ITS FROM EAST WEST NORTH AND SOUTH AND INDIAN GOV. HAVE TO AWAKE AND UNDERSTAND THE WAY CHINESE ARE GOING THROUGH OTHERWISE IT WILL BE VERY LATE. NO BODY CAN SAY WHAT IS COOKING IN CHINESE FOREIGN POLICY FOR FUTURE ABOUT INDIA BECAUSE THEY VERY CLEVER AND SMART GROWING RAPIDLY. SO OUR GOV. HAVE TO ANALYZE DEEPLY ON ALL ISSUE RELATED CHINA AND TAKE PROPER AND BOOSTEND DECISION.

India cannot do nothing on china..cause we dont have any fight culture in us..The funny thing is if english were ruling india.. and china had done the act..the british will have immedialtey knocked them out and not only that they will have kicked them back to bejing..We cant do that ..cause we lack leadership skills, our leaders are weak..all stuck in corruption,we dotn have hard life..that is reality and we like tobully small nations like itlay ,norway..
I had told people always be carefull..
atleast now we need to learn and will to strong and not weak..

I do not think british can kick China anymore since Hong Kong was handed back to China unconditionally by british in 1990s. on the contrary, China can kick british easily. Please give up your mentality that west/british have a say for everything. China is a very powerful power in the current world. Admit it.

ARMY SHOULD TAKE ACTION
by stephen on May 04, 2013 06:48 AM

THANKFULLY THE OPPOSITION HAS WOKEN UP NOW. WHAT ABOUT PRESIDENT, PM, SONIA, RAHUL & congress paid media - WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO TAKE ACTION . WHY ALLOW A HOLIDAY FOR SALMAN KHURSHID IN CHINA? ARMY SHOULD IGNORE THIS GOVT AND TAKE MATTERS IN ITS OWN HANDS AS IT HAS A DUTY TO PROTECT THE TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY OF THIS COUNTRY.

Contiguity matters
by Ramesh on May 04, 2013 06:41 AM  | Hide replies

The British law which created Indian and Pakistan, had India and Afghanistan sharing borders whereas China could not reach Pakistan by land, and even airspace denied for non-civil purposes. There was no way military supplies reach Pakistan from China, surely not in the scale it does now.

Whereas the destiny of Afghanistan would have been totally different.

Let us with all humility accept the wisdom of British law which would have safeguarded India, had those boundaries been retained.

The present incursion by China is to deny India oversight to the China-Pakistan contiguity, as soon as any future conflict breaks out. Siachin may also be vulnerable.

The British law also creates the legal context in view of which the occupation of Tibet and Xinjiang by China is termed illegal. This formidable legal edifice which has played such a critical role in shaping destiny of mankind can not be brushed aside just to accommodate the world view of China.

However the need for realism in face of formidable China is well accepted.

Sanctity of de jure should not be subject to disdain because de facto reality deems it impossible to attain in future.

What are you talking about? Just a fe days ago, british preminister (David Brown?) has -restated that "Tibet is part of China". You seems so illinformed about the world geopolitics. Find the fact then comment. Don't be a laughing stock.

Encroachment at strategic locations
by Anupam Chakrabarti on May 04, 2013 01:02 AM

Encroachmemt at strategic location can start wth tents and try building supply lines, if nothing else then to see ihe resolve of the other side. Could just be a mind game, which has been played very well so far, and India has got a hands down defeat. However, it could be far more serious Col Athale , if the Chinese decide to open up a front in Sikkim and another in Arunachal Pradesh. It seems from your writing we have accepted defeat before anything even began. The army can cut off supply lines, surround them, and the police or ITBP can go and arrest them for trespassing. If that escalates situations, is the armed forces incapable of handling it? If yes, then we should just let the Maoists do what they want.
